    • An apparatus is described for mounting a bimetal coil in a thermostat having an anticipator operable via an anticipator circuit. The apparatus includes an insulating member configured to insulate the coil from the anticipator circuit. The apparatus also includes a conductive shaft configured for mounting the coil and anticipator thereon. The insulating member is further configured for mounting between the coil and the shaft. This apparatus allows an inner end of a bi-metal coil to be secured easily in a thermostat, thus eliminating a need for more expensive mounting methods and costly insulating parts. The apparatus also simplifies calibration while reducing costs of assembly and materials.

    • A new Automatic Thermal Shut-Off Switch for preventing heat damage to a high pressure low volume water pump. The inventive device includes a T-shaped housing having a longitudinal cavity, a bimetallic compression spring within the cavity, a disc within cavity on top of the spring, a pin orthogonally secured to the disc, a first contact, and a second contact electrically in contact. The housing is positioned within an unused port within a pump housing and conducts the heat produced by the pump. The conducted heat expands the spring thereby forcing the pin upwardly to separate the first contact from electrically contact with the second contact.

    • A thermostat for regulating temperature of a space. The thermostat has a pair of means selectively manually movable therein within a predetermined range of temperature settings for setting a selected temperature of the space. Means mounted in lost motion engagement between the setting means is operable generally in response to the selective manual movement of one of the setting means toward a temperature setting defining the selected temperature for driving the other of the setting means toward a temperature setting predeterminately displaced from that of the one setting means within the predetermined temperature range.A method of operating a thermostat is also disclosed.

    • A thermostat having a cover plate rotatable about a central horizontal support in which a bimetal or other thermally responsive member supported on the cover plate actuates a mercury switch also on the cover plate. This cover plate also has upon it indicia such as degree marks or simply arrows indicating "colder -- warmer" operable against an imaginary vertical lubber line to indicate a setting. The need for time consuming and expensive levelling of the thermostat during installation is thus obviated because the thermostat is automatically levelled by the user as a result of setting the indicia in relation to the imaginary vertical line.
