    • A barrel and a barrel extension for being coupled to a firearm. The barrel extension can be threadedly engaged with a proximal end of the barrel. A chamber of the firearm can extend in at least the proximal end of the barrel. One or more channels can be formed in the exterior surface of the proximal end of the barrel and/or the interior surface of the barrel extension for providing fluid communication from the chamber to the forward end of the barrel extension between the barrel extension and the proximal end of the barrel for venting high pressure gases that may develop in the chamber.

    • A projectile launching device includes a primary tube having a primary passage for launching a projectile. In some embodiments, the projectile launching device further includes a secondary tube disposed about the primary tube and defining a secondary passage, and a flow apparatus in fluid communication with the secondary passage configured to move gas through the secondary passage. An opening is at the end of the secondary tube and is configured to allow gas to laminarly exit the secondary passage. In other embodiments, the projectile launching device further includes a flow apparatus in fluid communication with the primary passage configured to draw gas from the primary passage to provide at least a partial vacuum in the primary passage. The projectile launching device may provide increased range, accuracy, and velocity of the projectile, in addition to providing a reduced sound signature of the projectile launching device.

    • A firearm having a barrel and a whistle, wherein when the firearm is discharged air is forced through the whistle to cause a whistle sound. In one particular embodiment, the whistle comprises a barrel port, a channel, and a whistle port and wherein when the firearm is discharged a bullet traveling down the barrel forces air through the barrel port, the channel, and the whistle port to cause a whistle sound. In another embodiment, the whistle is associated with a firearm attachment and the firearm attachment is removably couplable to the firearm. In a further embodiment, the whistle is modifiable and modification of the whistle is configurable to eliminate or change the whistle sound. In a further embodiment, the whistle sound is associated with a signal that is transmitted to another device or central location for analysis, wherein the signal comprises a firearm identification or locational information.

    • A choke for use with a shotgun is provided. In accordance with one embodiment the choke has a body that defines a bore with a longitudinal axis therethrough. The body is configured for engagement with a shotgun, and the bore is positioned for traversal of a wad and shot therethrough and out of an end of the bore. The body has a circumference, an inner surface, and outer surface. The body defines at least one port for venting gas from the bore that extends from the inner surface to the outer surface. The shape of the port at the inner surface is asymmetrical.
