    • The invention is directed to a method of fueling gas turbines from natural gas reserves with relatively low methane concentrations. The invention permits the use of such reserves to be used to fuel gas turbines to generate electric power. The method of the invention includes providing a natural gas comprising not more than about 40 percent methane on a volume basis and mixing the methane of the natural gas with hydrogen gas to provide a hydrogen enhanced methane/hydrogen gas blend which has sufficient hydrogen to provide flame stability during burning. Thereafter, if required, the hydrogen enhanced methane/hydrogen gas blend is dehydrated to remove a sufficient amount of water to provide a flame stable hydrogen enhanced dehydrated methane/hydrogen gas blend. The hydrogen enhanced natural gas blend is used to fuel gas turbine generators.

    • A system for supplying fuel to a gas turbine includes piping containing fuel at a pressure greater than approximately 500 psi. A pressure reducing valve connected downstream of the piping reduces the pressure of the fuel to less than approximately 200 psi. A heat exchanger connected downstream of the pressure reducing valve heats the wet saturated fuel or dry saturated fuel to produce a superheated fuel. A control valve connected downstream of the heat exchanger reduces the pressure of the superheated fuel to less than approximately 50 psi. A method for supplying superheated fuel to a gas turbine includes receiving fuel having a pressure greater than approximately 500 psi and reducing the pressure to less than approximately 200 psi. The method further includes separating gaseous fuel from liquid fuel, reducing the pressure of the gaseous fuel to less than approximately 50 psi, and flowing the superheated fuel to the gas turbine.

    • An auxiliary power unit includes an autothermal reformer for producing a reformate from fuel; a turbine; a combustor for burning the reformate to power the turbine; a recuperator for obtaining thermal energy to improve the efficiency of the auxiliary power unit; a steam generator for using thermal energy from the recuperator to produce steam from a water supply; a condenser for recovering the water from turbine exhaust; and an electrical generator coupled to the turbine for producing electrical power. Recovered heat and water are used with the autothermal reformer to produce rapid and complete combustion of the fuel with a relatively low concentration of emissions.
