    • A unique protective cover system for hot water pipes and other pipe installations and which relies upon a plurality of jackets capable of being disposed about the pipes. In one embodiment of the invention, there is provided an under-sink heat protective cover system having a first J-shaped jacket to cover a J-shaped pipe arrangement or J-trap and a portion of straight pipe cover to cover the waste arm pipe in an under-sink pipe installation. Moreover, a unique coupling mechanism in the mating jackets allows one jacket to be fitted and tightly connected with the other jacket. Each of the jackets are slit longitudinally so that they can be spread apart at the slit and fitted on the pipes of the installation. A unique locking system is provided to retentively and tightly hold each jacket around a pipe section. Moreover, in another embodiment, fiber fastening strips are located adjacent the opposed edges of the slit for quickly releasably locking together with two edges of the jacket adjacent the slit.

    • A pre-rinse hose for use in the food service industry is provided. A core section is formed from an inner tube extruded from a rubber compound, a layer of textile braid applied to the inner tube and an outer tube extruded from a rubber compound over the textile braid. A steel braid is applied around the outer tube and a cover of polyvinyl plastic material is extruded over the steel braid. A hollow stem is held in each end of the hose by a ferrule which is crimped and compressed over the hose ends. A wrench-faced nut is disposed on each hollow stem to connect one end of the hose to a faucet and the other end to a pre-rinse spray head. A spring is applied around the end of the hose connected to the faucet to reinforce the hose against breakage.

    • A method of securing a flange ferrule to the end of a flexible tube having an exterior diameter slightly smaller than the interior diameter of the ferrule, comprises positioning the flange ferrule over the end of the flexible tube and aligning the flange at the end of the ferrule with the end of the tube, placing a flange clamp bushing which has an outer diameter smaller than the inside diameter of the tube into the tube and aligning a flange of the clamp bushing with the flange of the ferrule and, thereafter, expanding the clamp bushing outwardly into engagement with the wall of the tube. Before the outward expansion of the clamp bushing is effected, the clamp bushing and the ferrule are positioned in a matrix which has a receiving cavity with an outline conforming to the flange ferrule and the tube end and the clamp bushing. After the assembly is held in the matrix, a flaring tool or expander is inserted into the bore of the clamp bushing in order to expand the clamp bushing outwardly into the wall of the tube. A flexible tube fitment, comprises the flange ferrule and the flange clamping bushing which has its flange interengaged over the flange of the ferrule and which is forced into engagement with the wall of the tube. Advantageously, an elastically deformable material or bonding material is inserted between the end of the tube and the flange of the clamp bushing. The clamp bushing may be of a length equal to, less than, or greater than, the outside flange ferrule.
