摘要： A coated fiber for cell culture includes a fiber core having an exterior surface and a polymeric coating suitable for culturing cells disposed on at least a portion of the exterior surface of the fiber core. A polypeptide may be conjugated to the polymeric coating. A method for forming the coated fiber includes coating a polymer layer to an exterior surface of a fiber core to produce the coated fiber. The coating may occur as the fiber is being drawn.

摘要： The invention makes available a keratin coating of a support substrate and a method for the production thereof. This keratin coating is suitable particularly for the in vitro or in vivo culturing of epithelial or endothelial cells and, because of its optical transparency, for microscopy. The keratin coating is prepared by applying or coating keratin in the form of nanoparticles from an aqueous keratin solution or keratin suspension. The solution or suspension does not contain any reducing compounds. The keratin solution is prepared preferably from hair, such as human hair. For the preparation of the coating, keratin is brought into solution or into a suspension of nanoparticles by mixing the keratin with an aqueous composition which contains thiourea, urea, and mercaptoethanol.

Cells including cell types capable of sprouting are seeded 1300 into a channel in a matrix at to activate competency 1304 of the cells for sprouting as microvessels based on the seeding density. The matrix channel is perfused with medium to allow parent vessels to form and for viability 1324. The parent vessels and matrix are incubated and perfused to provide for sprouting of microvessels from parent vessels into the surrounding matrix 1328. The sprouting parent vessels are grown until network forms 1332.

摘要： The present invention provides a novel silk-fiber-based matrix having a wire-rope geometry for use in producing a ligament or tendon, particularly an anterior cruciate ligament, ex vivo for implantation into a recipient in need thereof. The invention further provides the novel silk-fiber-based matrix which is seeded with pluripotent cells that proliferate and differentiate on the matrix to form a ligament or tendon ex vivo. Also disclosed is a bioengineered ligament comprising the silk-fiber-based matrix seeded with pluripotent cells that proliferate and differentiate on the matrix to form the ligament or tendon. A method for producing a ligament or tendon ex vivo comprising the novel silk-fiber-based matrix is also disclosed.

摘要： The invention relates to a method of storing and/or transporting in vitro two-dimensional cell cultures. The inventive method comprises the following steps consisting in: a) coating a cell culture that is immobilised on an asymmetric support with a gelatine solution in culture medium at a concentration of between 1 and 5%; b) solidifying the gelatine added to the support at a temperature of between 15 and 25° C.; and c) storing and/or transporting the cell culture at a temperature of between 15 and 25° C. for a period of up to 96 hours. The invention also relates to a kit which is used to store and/or transport the in vitro two-dimensional cell cultures according to the inventive method, said kit comprising: i) an asymmetric support, and (ii) a gelatine solution in culture medium at a concentration of between 1 and 5%.

The swellable (meth)acrylate layer may be formed by polymerizing monomers in a composition that includes hydroxyethyl methacrylate, 2-carboxyehylacrylate, and tetra(ethylene glycol) dimethacrylate. The conjugated peptide may include an amino acid sequence of XaanProGlnValThrArgGlyAspValPheThrMetPro, where n is an integer from 0 to 3 and where Xaa is any amino acid. Further, disclosed herein is a swellable (meth)acrylate synthetic surface which can be sterilized by gamma irradiation.
