摘要： The invention features a vital sign monitor that includes: 1) a hardware control component featuring a microprocessor that operates an interactive, icon-driven GUI on an LCD; and, 2) a sensor component that connects to the control component through a shielded coaxial cable. The sensor features: 1) an optical component that generates a first signal; 2) a plurality electrical components (e.g. electrodes) that generate a second signal; and, 3) an acoustic component that generates a third signal. The microprocessor runs compiled computer code that operates: 1) the touch panel LCD; 2) a graphical user interface that includes multiple icons corresponding to different software operations; 3) a file-management system for storing and retrieving vital sign information; and 4) USB and short-range wireless systems for transferring data to and from the device to a PC.

摘要： A patient ambulation motion detector is intended for attachment to a lateral generally vertical surface of a patient'body. The detector includes a motion sensor switch and a detachment detector switch which are mounted on a circuit board, the circuit board being in turn enclosed within an attachment casing which is attachable to a lateral surface of the patient's body. The motion sensor switch is a mercury switch mounted to the circuit board and having the axis of movement of the mercury contained therein oriented generally parallel to the circuit board so as to be responsive to declination of that portion of the patient's body to which the detector is attached and which declination is indicative of impending ambulation. The detachment detector switch is a spring contact switch which is openable and closable by a plunger acting thereon and sensitive to detachment of the detector from the patient's body. The detector may be wired to a conventional switched nurse call system.

摘要： Systems and methods are presented for a swallowable pH sensor made entirely of edible and digestible materials. A substrate is provided and an electrical circuit pattern is printed on a top surface of the substrate. The electrical circuit pattern includes a plurality of interdigitated electrodes and an antenna portion. The substrate is rolled into a cylindrical form such that the interdigitated electrodes are positioned on an outermost layer of the rolled substrate. The rolling of the substrate also causes the antenna portion of the electrical circuit pattern to form into a coil shape.

The catheter shaft may have an opening and an expandable structure surrounding the opening to provide a field of view of the intracavitary tissue for the array of sensors through the opening. The system may include a software-based programming system run on a computer such that a clinician may review information indicative of temperature of the intracavitary tissue, and be alerted if the temperature exceeds a predetermined threshold.

摘要： A probe tip of an oximeter device includes first and second printed circuit boards (PCBs) that are coupled to the ends of optical fibers that transmit light between the PCBs and into patient tissue that is to be measured by the oximeter device. The PCBs are oriented at an angle between zero and ninety degrees so that the fibers have a curved shape between the locations at which the fibers are coupled to the first and second PCBs. The angular orientation of the PCBs and curved shape of the fibers allows the fibers to have a longer length than if the fibers were straight and allows for light transmitted through the fibers to have a uniform distribution across a cross-section of the fibers as the light is emitted from the fibers into patient tissue. The uniform distribution of light transmitted into patient tissue allows for reliable oximetry measurements.
