    • Improvement of reception downlink common control channels in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM)-based cellular wireless communication system is provided by User Equipment (UE) using a downlink synchronization channel transmitted in an adjacent OFDM symbol as a pilot channel for channel estimation upon common control channel demodulation. When providing both unicast and multicast data services, OFDM symbol transmitting multicast data generally has a longer Cyclic Prefix (CP) than an OFDM symbol for unicast data than a signal frequency network. Therefore, length of CPs of OFDM symbols belonging to each subframe may change depending on whether multimedia data is transmitted. Although a UE does not recognize the length of a CP applied to a subframe in which a common control and a synchronization channel are transmitted, the UE can use a downlink synchronization channel as a channel estimation pilot to demodulate the common control channel.
