    • A terminal structure of a coil device includes a coil having a rectangular conductive wire covered with a dielectric film, and a terminal having a fusing part. An end portion of the wire from the coil has first and second flat surfaces, and the fusing part is electrically connected to these flat surfaces by fusing. The fusing part includes a planar portion surface-contacting a first flat surface, and a folded piece folded in a direction perpendicular to a plane of the planar portion. The end portion is clamped between the planar portion and the folded piece. The folded piece includes a contact surface portion contacting a second flat surface. The contact surface portion includes a stepped portion that increases a deformation amount of a contact area of the second flat surface contacting the stepped portion, compared to an adjacent area of the second flat surface adjacent to the contact area.

    • A three-layered prosody control description language is used to insert prosodic feature control commands in a text at the positions of characters or a character string to be added with non-verbal information. The three-layered prosody control description language is composed of: a semantic layer (S layer) having, as its prosodic feature control commands, control commands each represented by a word indicative of the meaning of non-verbal information; an interpretation layer (I layer) having, as its prosodic feature control commands, control commands which interpret the prosodic feature control commands of the S layer and specify control of prosodic parameters of speech; and a parameter layer (P layer) having prosodic parameters which are objects of control by the prosodic feature control commands of the I layer. The text is converted into a prosodic parameter string through synthesis-by-rule. The prosodic parameters corresponding to characters or character string to be corrected are corrected by the prosodic feature control commands of the I layer, and speech is synthesized from a parameter string containing the corrected prosodic parameters.

    • A magnetic head device comprises a moving member comprising a slider, which is fastened to a system for applying a magnetic field and slides on or is close to an optomagnetic disk, an elastically supporting member having a first end, to which the moving member is attached, the elastically supporting member supporting the moving member in a manner that the moving member can move, a fastening member fastened to a second end of said elastically supporting member, a position control pin, and a position control hole formed at the center of gravity of the moving member. When a shock is applied, the position control pin mates with the position control hole, so that not only the vertical position of the moving member, but also its horizontal position can be restricted. Moreover, since the position control hole is formed at the center of gravity of the moving member, a resultant moment on the moving member can be avoided. Thus, a magnetic head device with excellent shock resistance can be provided. Since it is not necessary to provide a weight extending the moving member in longitudinal direction, further miniaturization of the device can be realized.

    • A magneto-optical head includes an optical head provided with a light-focusing device for focusing a beam spot on an information-recording medium and a magnetic head provided with a magnetic-field applying device for applying a magnetic field to the information-recording medium. The optical head and the magnetic head have the same rotation center and are arranged to rotate together in respective planes parallel to the information-recording medium.The relative position shift between the beam spot and the magnetic-field applying device, which occurs when the beam spot follows eccentric components of the information-recording medium, is avoided. As a result, a magnetic-field applying device can be miniaturized, resulting in decrease in power consumption and in inductance of the magnetic head. Consequently, data can be recorded at a high frequency, thus improving the recording density and transfer speed.

    • A discharge lamp in which ultraviolet radiation of short wavelengths can be advantageously cut and in which the amount of emitted light (i-line) of 365 nm wavelength can be increased is achieved according to the invention by providing a quartz glass arc tube that is coated with a plurality of coating layers which include a layer which has Ta.sub.2 O.sub.5 as the main component, and at least one additional coating layer which has a refraction coefficient which differs from the refraction coefficient of the coating layer having the Ta.sub.2 O.sub.5 main component. These layers act to prevent the reflection of light with a wavelength of 365 nm which is incident on the coatings on the arc tube and to cut at least 50% of the ultraviolet radiation having wavelengths of 230 nm or less. According to the invention, the coating layers can be provided on the outer side of the arc tube, on the inner side of the arc tube, or on both on the inner and outer sides of the arc tube.
