摘要： A developing device including a developing roller which has a resilient support layer and a dielectric layer provided on the support layer and developing an electrostatic latent image formed on a photoconductive drum through the roller by using a single-component developer, i.e. toner. The variation of development characteristics ascribable to the developing roller is suppressed by providing a resilient material which constitutes the support layer with a resistance value less than a predetermined value that is mostly determined by a relationship between the resistance value and the developing time. Further, a method is described for producing a developing roller for the developing device.

摘要： A method of detecting the toner concentration of a two-component developer comprising a mixture of carrier particles and toner particles for use in an electrostatic copying apparatus or the like wherein a relationship between flow rate and the toner concentration of a two-component developer which passes through a container is obtained in advance, then the flow rate of the two-component developer whose toner concentration is unknown is measured by use of the container and developer flow rate detecting member. Thus, the toner concentration of the developer is determined from the measured flow rate and the relationship between the flow rate and the toner concentration which has been obtained in advance.

The present apparatus is particularly useful when used in combination with a fur brush cleaning device of a transfer type electrophotographic copying machine. The present collection apparatus comprises a roller electrode and a counter electrode disposed opposite to the peripheral surface of the roller electrode. A blade is provided in contact with the roller electrode. The roller electrode includes an insulating section which always keeps in contact with a portion of the blade thereby roller and counter electrodes are prevented from being bridged by deposited toner particles. A disposable filter unit may be advantageously mounted on the collection apparatus.

摘要： Deterioration of a dry developing substance causes toner particles to be so strongly adhered to carrier particles that they cannot be readily separated therefrom. The present apparatus comprises means for applying a predetermined electrostatic or air suction force to the developer to readily remove toner therefrom except for spent toner particles strongly adhered to the carrier particles. The toner density, or the ratio of toner to carrier particles, is then measured electromagnetically or optically and compared to a reference value. The developer deterioration determines what proportion of toner will be removed from the developer by said force and thereby the subsequently sensed toner density. The higher the sensed toner density, the greater the degree of deterioration.

A bias voltage source applies a bias voltage across the series arrangement of a variable resistance means, the magnetic brush, the toner substance between the magnetic brush and the drum and a non-image portion of the drum.
