    • A load displacement apparatus to displace a mobile platform along a structure includes a worm screw mounted on the platform for rotation about its axis that meshes with a plurality of support blocs mounted on the structure. The support blocs are spaced apart from one another along the structure to be successively engaged by the worm screw. Each support bloc includes a plurality of bearing balls freely movably supported and retained therein to selectively and movably engage the worm screw over at least an arc segment thereof such that the worm screw is always in meshing engagement with at least one of the support blocs. The invention also refers to a scaffolding system incorporating the apparatus.

    • Provided are apparatuses, systems, methods, computer readable storage media and other means for performing overhead service of machines. A staging assembly may be used that includes one or more platforms, each having a bottom surface, a floor, and two or more railing support structures. The staging assembly can be suspended, using a suspension system, from one or more support structures disposed on a ceiling. One or more driving means can also be used to drive the staging assembly or other equipment (such as a hoist assembly) along a path that may be defined by a support structure. The driving means can also be automated and/or activated in response to, for example, one or more commands generated by a central control processor. The central control processor, staging assemblies and/or other equipment can all include computer readable media which comprises instructions to perform various tasks, some examples of which are discussed herein.

    • Reed's High-Rise Emergency Rescue Egress System, a conventional truck chassis fitted with a hydraulic lift system for access into and the evacuation of individuals from high-rise buildings. The technology is comprised of the following components: A control room located behind the cab of the truck, which is used to operate the lift system, monitor system operations, detect chemical, radiological, biological or other hazardous agents, and provides communication support; an gondola cabins which provides protection while transporting personnel and equipment up and down. The gondola has the ability to be connected to a building's internal/external water stand-pipe system to allow hoses to be used directly from the cabin and an audio/video monitoring system that transmits information to the control room; a mechanical lift system, which utilizes hydraulic and electrical lifts. The lift system is powered by the vehicle's motor. The lift system is augmented by an electrical/hydraulic turntable frame that maneuvers a platform containing the gondola cabin and allows for the gondola cabin to be extended and retracted, raised and lowered. Additionally, buildings can have an optional fixed or portable cantilever system that also aids in the movement of the cabin. The ground rescue vehicle and the roof cantilever system may move vertically simultaneously.

    • A fall protection apparatus includes a single longitudinally extending rigid rail onto which two laterally spaced apart moveable lanyard anchorages are mounted. The rail has a generally H-shaped cross-section with opposing vertically oriented first and second tracks laterally spaced apart by a connecting member extending between the tracks and substantially continuously along the length of the tracks The apparatus is attached to a structure by a support member, such as an overhead or lower support member, with the support member being attached to an upper or lower surface of the connecting member respectively.     • The self-elevating platform scaffolding includes a horizontal work platform suspended from a vertical mast tower and a unique lift mechanism mounted to the work platform, which raises and lowers the platform along the length of the tower. The lift mechanism uses a pinion wheel that directly engages a mast tower to raise and lower the work platform along the mast towers. The pinion wheel has a plurality of radially spaced cogs that seat within crescent shaped openings in the mast tower. The lift mechanism is mounted to the work platform adjacent the mast tower such that rotation of the pinion wheel causes the wheel to “walk” up and down the mast tower to raise and lower the platform. The geometric configuration of the pinion wheel is designed so that at least two of the cogs are always in contact with the mast tower. As the pinion wheel turns, each successive cog seats within an adjacent crescent slot in the mast tower with its contact edge bearing against the bottom edge of tower opening.
