The device comprises only two separable parts, a funnel and a flexible tube and can easily be carried in purse, pocket or fanny pack. Fabricated from a flexible material, the funnel is contoured to conform to the labia region of the female anatomy. Soft, rounded edges, allows a user to hold the funnel against her body with sufficient pressure to form a seal without discomfort and without the feel of an adhesive. Since the material is flexible, the funnel can be manipulated to be wider or narrower as desired. A flexible tube is detachably mounted on the funnel to form a flow path directed away from the user.

A urine drainage port is formed on this urine receptacle, and from this urine drainage port, urine is directed into a urine tank. The urine drainage tube is connected to one of the tube guide holes via a mounting fixture while maintaining the airtightness of the urine tank, and the urine drainage tube can be detachable from/attachable to the tube guide hole.

The device includes a resilient member and a non-absorbent which at least partially encloses the resilient member. The non-absorbent and the resilient member are formed into an elongated softwind having a first end and a second end. The softwind is folded upon itself such that the first and second ends are aligned adjacent to one another and the softwind contains at least two folds therebetween. The resilient member extends between at least two of the folds. The softwind is then compressed into an elongated pledget having an insertion end and a trailing end with the resilient member located at least in the insertion end. The resilient member is capable of expanding at least a portion of the pledget to provide a supportive backdrop for a woman's urethra when inserted into a woman's vagina. The method includes the steps of enclosing the resilient member by the non-absorbent, folding the two materials to form a softwind, folding the softwind into a generally M-shape configuration and then compressing the softwind into an elongated pledget.

In use, upper wall portions of the intermediate frustoconical portion adjacent to the tip portion are moved toward abutting relation to form a first vacuum region within the tip portion and a second vacuum region within the frustoconical portion. The meatus of the user is disposed in the second vacuum region and is advantageously prevented from entering the first region by the upper wall portions of the intermediate frustoconical portion. With this arrangement, the meatus is disposed in a "tent" region (i.e., the second vacuum region) which has a broad base and an apex and is prevented from entering the first vacuum region which has a narrower entrance that could detrimentally entrap meatal tissue. The vacuum regions maintain the device in reliable sealed engagement with the meatal tissue.
