    • A torque nut includes a threaded passageway and a groove. The groove has its opening facing the passageway. A breakaway insert having a major body portion is formed in the passageway, and a tab connected to the major body portion is formed in the groove, for example, by injection molding. The tab connected to the major body portion prevents rotation of the insert in the passageway. In one use, a resin component, a catalyst component and a first end of a rock-bolt are positioned in a bore hole. The torque nut is threaded onto the opposite end of the rock-bolt. Rotation of the torque nut rotates the rock-bolt, mixing the components. After the components set, increased torque is applied to the torque nut to fracture the insert and move the nut up the threaded end of the rock-bolt against roof stabilizing components.

    • A connector assembly that is subjected to alternating loads by an axial flow of force between zero and various maximum values, with an outer assembly component designed as a hollow section and an inner assembly component located in the outer one and fitting by virtue of its shape. In order to detect failure of the assembly caused by a fatigue fracture produced by overloads at the end point in the assembly direction, even before it develops, in a simple fashion within the functional assembly, the assembly comprises a rear area with play that begins at the end of the connection that points in the assembly direction and a forward zero-play area of the inner assembly component that abuts the latter and is located inside the outer assembly component. The transition between the areas forms a desired breakage location between the two ends of the connection, at which point one of the assembly components, upon the formation of a locally defined crack that runs in the transverse direction of the assembly, breaks as a result of fatigue after a certain number of overloads. The distance of the required breakage location from the ends of the connection is so dimensioned and the cooperation of the assembly components is so designed that the inner assembly component within the outer assembly component forms a residual assembly that can withstand alternating loads after fracture.

    • A retainer bushing for connecting a male member such as a shaft, rod or pin, for example the coupling pin of a motor vehicle clutch pedal, to a mechanical component having a bore accepting the shaft, rod or pin in the bore, for example the input member of an hydraulic master cylinder hydraulically connected to a slave cylinder actuating a clutch release mechanism. The retainer bushing has a flange at one end and one or more longitudinally projecting tangs at the other end. A closure wall is integrally formed at the other end of the retainer bushing. Each tang, which is elastically deflectable outwardly and inwardly, has a radially inwardly directed abutment surface for engagement with the other end of the bore when the flange is engaged at one end thereof, and an inwardly radially directed prong for engagement in a peripheral groove formed in the pin. The bushing is introduced into the bore, with the tangs elastically deflected inwardly, until the tangs snap back to their original position with their abutment surface preventing removal of the bushing from the bore, and the tangs are elastically deflected outwardly when the pin is introduced through the bushing bore until each tang snaps back to its original position with its inwardly directed prong engaged in the pin peripheral groove. The closure wall prevents the pin from being introduced into the bushing through the wrong end.
