摘要： The present disclosure presents a method and an apparatus for a light active estimation mechanism for backhaul management at a small cell base station. For example, the method may include transmitting a first data packet from the small cell base station to a network entity, receiving a second data packet from the network entity in response to the transmission, calculating a time delay between the transmitting of the first data packet and the receiving of the second data packet, and determining whether or not a backhaul of the small cell base station is congested based on the calculated time delay. As such, light active estimation mechanism for backhaul management at a small cell base station may be achieved.

摘要： The present disclosure presents a method and an apparatus for calibrating a small cell base station for backhaul management. For example, the method may include exchanging backhaul probing messages with a probing server by initiating a plurality of probing packets at the small cell base station, wherein the exchanging is performed over a backhaul after determining that a full queue condition associated with the backhaul is satisfied, computing calibration statistics for the backhaul based on characteristics associated with the backhaul probing messages, and adjusting one or more backhaul parameters of the small cell based on the calibration statistics. As such, calibration of a small cell base station for backhaul management may be achieved.

摘要： An intelligent network interface card (INIC) or communication processing device (CPD) works with a host computer for data communication. The device provides a fast-path that avoids protocol processing for most messages, greatly accelerating data transfer and offloading time-intensive processing tasks from the host CPU. The host retains a fallback processing capability for messages that do not fit fast-path criteria, with the device providing assistance such as validation even for slow-path messages, and messages being selected for either fast-path or slow-path processing. A context for a connection is defined that allows the device to move data, free of headers, directly to or from a destination or source in the host. The context can be passed back to the host for message processing by the host. The device contains specialized hardware circuits that are much faster at their specific tasks than a general purpose CPU. A preferred embodiment includes a trio of pipelined processors devoted to transmit, receive and utility processing, providing full duplex communication for four Fast Ethernet nodes.

摘要： A system and method suited for improved overall data transmission having a hardware-based transceiver configured for transmitting upstream data with suppressed data packets. In TCP sessions between devices, a server seeks an “acknowledgement” that the downstream data transmission has been received by a client. Some data packets sent upstream may contain only TCP acknowledgement data and therefore may be combined with other purely TCP acknowledgement data packets in order to reduce the impact of the TCP acknowledgement packets on the overall upstream data throughput. In addition, this results in increased TCP performance in the downstream transmission direction as well because the algorithm enables replacing earlier arriving ACK packets with later arriving ACK packets which allows the device to send all TCP ACK information known to the suppressor at the earliest possible time.
