摘要： A method and apparatus of detecting a radio link failure in a wireless communication system is provided. A mobile station initializes a radio link failure (RLF) counter for detecting the radio link failure and determines whether decoding of a message on a downlink channel is successful. The mobile station decrements a value of the RLF counter if the decoding fails, and increments the value of the RLF counter if the decoding is successful, and declaring the radio link failure if the value of the RLF counter is less than or equal to a specific value. A decrement size of the value of the RLF counter varies according to a received signal strength of the downlink channel.

In particular, the modems postprocess the data including calibration, filter compensation, determination of the SNR medley from the bits and gains tables and rate conversion. The interpretation process uses the postprocessed data and determines loop characterization, interferer detection, a data reduction estimation and a data rate estimation. The outputs of these determinations least allow for the characterization of the line conditions between the two modems.

摘要： Upon detection of a trigger, such as the exceeding of an error threshold or the direction of a user, a diagnostic link system enters a diagnostic information transmission mode. This diagnostic information transmission mode allows for two modems to exchange diagnostic and/or test information that may not otherwise be exchangeable during normal communication. The diagnostic information transmission mode is initiated by transmitting an initiate diagnostic link mode message to a receiving modem accompanied by a cyclic redundancy check (CRC). The receiving modem determines, based on the CRC, if a robust communications channel is present. If a robust communications channel is present, the two modems can initiate exchange of the diagnostic and/or test information. Otherwise, the transmission power of the transmitting modem is increased and the initiate diagnostic link mode message re-transmitted to the receiving modem until the CRC is determined to be correct.

The phase detector is configured to provide a plurality of phase measurements for at least two consecutive data symbols comprising a selected one of the communications channels. The phase comparator is configured to determine the phase differences between the obtained phase measurements. Upon locking onto at least a portion of the known bit pattern in the received data stream, a bit error rate may be generated based on a bit-by-bit comparison of at least a portion of the data stream received after locking occurs. At least a portion of the data stream may be compared with a corresponding portion of expected data. The bit error rate may be calculated based on results from comparing at least a portion of the data stream with a corresponding portion of the expected data. The known bit pattern may be internally generated within the port bypass controller or it may be externally generated by a host system.
