    • In certain connector plugs use is made of contact strips (13) mounted next to each other such that at one end they form exposed contact springs (8) while at their other ends they have a loop portion (14) provided with a V- of U-shaped recess (16) for connection with a connector wire. The dimensions are rather narrow, and there is hardly room for two such recesses in each loop portion. However, there is an expressed demand for connecting two wires to some of the contact strips, and according to the invention this is made possible by shaping each strip (13) with two loops (14) mutually spaced in the longitudinal direction of the strip, where there is better room than in the width or height direction. With conventional shaping technique it is difficult to provide two loops (14) on one contact strip (13), but the invention comprises a method, which makes this possible, viz. by arranging for an active feeding of strip material to the loop areas from both sides of each of these.

    • An insulation displacement terminal assembly comprises an insulation displacement terminal having a U-shaped insulation displacement portion which has two plate sections that are connected by a bight and insulation displacement slots that extend through the bight and down into the plate sections in aligned pairs of insulation piercing slot portions. A plurality of insulated electric cables are disposed in the insulation piercing slot portions and retained therein to form a sub-assembly. The sub-assembly is assembled into a slide-in insulator housing portion which has slots in its opposed side walls through which the insulated electric cables of the sub-assembly extend and a retention tongue that is cantilevered from a back wall of the housing portion and runs parallel to the slotted side walls to project between the insulated electric cables and the bight of the insulation displacement terminal to retain the electric cables down in the insulation displacement slot portions.

    • A continuous strip of connector housing material is described which comprises a succession of housing segments that are latched together at their ends. Each segment contains a plurality of individual housing cells that are connected to each other by severable webs. The latches between juxtaposed segments are also severable. A connector housing of a desired size, as the regards the number of terminals therein, is obtained by severing from the end of the strip the desired number of housing cells. The connectors thus produced may be of the type which require a closure member which is fitted into the wire receiving ends of the cells. A continuous strip of closure members are also provided. The housings may by of either the feed-through type which are installed on wires intermediate the wire ends, or they may be of a wire end type, which are installed on the ends of wires.

    • A multicontact electrical connector having individual terminals arranged in side-by-side cavities employed to interconnect a plurality of insulated conductors to terminal posts as positioned in a pin grid array. Each of the terminals includes an insulation displacement contact of the conductor at one end and a resilient contact at the opposite end formed by bifurcated members having opposed contact surfaces to engage intermediate sides of the terminal pins. Bifurcated members are twisted to define the opposed contact surfaces. The housings define open ended channels to receive a conductor inserted laterally of its axis into a slot defined in the contact terminal. Mass termination of a plurality of conductors to terminals fully inserted within the insulating housings is thus possible.

    • Electrical terminal for connecting a lead wire to a varnish insulated wire extending from a coil comprises first and second plate-like members in aligned spaced-apart relationship. The plate-like members are connected by spaced-apart straps extending between corresponding ends of the members and aligned slots extend inwardly from the ends so that a coil wire can be moved relatively between the straps and into the slots. A pair of stabilizing ears extend from the side edges of one of the plate-like members towards and past the side edges of the other plate-like member thereby to strengthen and stabilize the box-like structure. A connecting member is provided for connecting a lead wire to the terminal. This connecting member may comprise a tab or lance extending from one of the ears transversely across the entire width of the box-like structure towards the other ear so that a wire can be inserted between the end of the tab and the interior surface of the ear.
