    • An animal tracking device for tracking an animal shot with an arrow. The animal tracking device may include an antenna, a controller, an accelerometer switch, a battery powering the controller and/or accelerometer switch, an animal attachment component, and a housing physically connecting components of the animal tracking device. The accelerometer switch may measure an amount of G force it experiences and send an interrupt signal to the controller when the amount of G force measured is at or greater than a threshold amount for a threshold amount of time, indicating that the arrow has been shot. The controller may send wireless signals to a receiver via the antenna in response to receiving the interrupt signal. The housing may be detachably attached to the arrow. The animal attachment component may attach to an animal shot by the arrow and force the housing away from the arrow.

    • A hunting arrow for tracking target animals is disclosed and described. The arrow can include a chamber having an angled surface and a compression fitting surface. The arrow can also include a transmitter housing having an angled surface and a compression fitting to securely house the transmitter within the chamber during flight. The transmitter may include removable parts, to enable reuse of the transmitter, including but not limited to: compression fittings, barbed hooks, an attachment assembly and a battery cover. The transmitter is ejected from the chamber when the arrow strikes a target animal and the one or more barbed hooks stops the forward momentum of the transmitter with sufficient force to overcome the friction between the compression fitting and the compression fitting surface within the chamber, thereby ejecting and embedding the transmitter in the hide of the animal. Alternatively, or in addition thereto, the hunting arrow can include a plunger system, retaining member/retaining dimple system and/or an adhesive strip system to secure the transmitter to the arrow during flight.

    • A tracking apparatus for securing a transmitting device onto a target game animal. The tracking apparatus engages with a target and separates the apparatus from the arrow. The apparatus includes a transmitting device for transmitting a signal to a receiving device; a stopping component for detaching the tracking apparatus from the arrow after the arrow collides with the target; and a securing component for securing the tracking apparatus to the target, said securing component including barbs angled towards the rear of the arrow for stopping rebound motion of the tracking apparatus after the arrow collides with the target. In one embodiment, the barbs are reinforced with reinforcing arms. In another embodiment, the securing component includes a torsion spring. In another embodiment, the stopping component includes one or more wings with a front edge facing the front of the arrow that is relatively perpendicular to the axis of the arrow.

    • An ordnance usable against a living body, the ordnance having a tracking module with a transmitter that can use at least a portion of the body as an antenna. In preferred embodiments, the tracking module is releasably coupled to a carrier, and a pointed tip is disposed on at least one of the tracking module and the carrier. The module preferably includes a circuit that provides location information to the transmitter, and optionally provides additional information, including at least one of motion, compass, pressure, oxygen, and heart beat information. Transmission can occur at any suitable interval, including for example, at least three times during a ten minute period. The transmitter can optionally transmit a no heart beat signal, failure signal, and/or low battery signal. Preferred systems include a receiver that can send an interrogation signal, and the ordnance can include an interrogation receiving circuit for receiving interrogation signals.
