    • Apparatus and methods are provided for a fluid fertilizer distributor 10, 200, 300, or 400 for distributing fluid fertilizer conducted from a supply vessel 11 to each of a plurality of applicator lines 44. The fluid distributor may regulate a fluid fertilizer flow rate by selectively moving a flow restrictor 50, 250, 350, or 450 relative to the distributor housing. The distributor housing may include a supply inlet port 12, 212, 312, or 412 and a plurality of distributor outlet ports 16, 216, 316, or 416 each for fluid communication with a respective one of the plurality of applicator lines 44. The fluid distributor may separate the fluid fertilizer into a plurality of fluid flow paths prior to reducing the pressure in the fluid to avoid gas flashing or vaporization prior to separation. Thereby, fluid distribution may be effected upon a substantially liquid fluid within the fluid distributor, which may result in substantially uniform fertilizer application, with reduced rate variation between applicator lines. The flow restrictor 50, 250, 350, or 450 may be substantially ring shaped and positioned on an external surface of the distributor housing, or substantially cylindrical shaped and positioned substantially internal to the distributor housing. The fluid distributor may provide for substantially infinitely regulating the application rate between a fully closed position and a fully open position. Rate regulation may be performed manually or by programmable controller.

    • A gate valve for controlling fluid flow through a housing is disclosed. The gate valve includes a frusto-conical shaped internal cavity having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet formed in the wall thereof. Fluid flow through the cavity (from inlet to outlet) is transverse to the direction of the taper of the frusto-conical cavity. A gate including a frusto-conical portion is disposed within the housing. The frusto-conical portion of the gate may be moved transversely through the fluid flow passing from the internal cavity inlet to the outlet. The frusto-conical portion of the gate is adapted to seat against the frusto-conical shaped internal cavity to block fluid flow there through. The gate does not contact the seat until the point at which all fluid flow is shut off. This reduces wear on the gate and the seat and promotes laminar flow through the valve during the process of closing the valve.

    • A valve assembly which includes a valve body made of a hard synthetic resin, preferably PVC or PVDF. The valve body is formed with a fluid passage laterally extending therethrough, and having no flanges for connection with neighboring pipings. There is a valve member for the cooperation with the valve body, the valve member has nearly a true cylindrical outer configuration, having a taper of 1/30-1/10. A shallow concave groove or recess is formed in the bottom wall surface of the valve member kept in fluid communication with the axial bore formed in the latter. The material of the valve member is selected to be softer than that of the valve body for securing benefit for aquiring better wearing characteristics in cooperation with the valve seats. This material is preferably polypropylene. The working surface of the valve member has a generally convex-cured configuration and the valve seat of the valve body has a concave configuration mating therewith.
