    • A supercharged rotary piston engine, which comprises a cylinder (1) with fluid conducting inlet and outlet channels (15, 16); an inner chamber (2) of the cylinder being ring-shaped. The inner chamber includes a supercharging section (10), a working stroke section (11) and an exhaust section (12). A main shaft (5) is rotatably positioned in the cylinder, and a rotary piston (3) in the inner chamber (2) is mounted coaxially with the main shaft (5) and is connected to and rotatable together with the main shaft (5) for driving the shaft. At least one stop valve (8) is disposed between the inlet and outlet channels, the stop valve sealingly closing the inner chamber when in the closed position, and the stop-valve when in the open position leaving the inner chamber free for the unhindered passage of the rotating piston. A supercharger (K) for supercharging fluid under a final compression pressure is disposed in the supercharging section (10) of the inner chamber (2) behind the rotating piston (3). A regulating valve (20) connected with the working stroke section (11) of the inner chamber (2) is capable of regulating the pressure of supercharging from the front side of the rotating piston (3).

    • A rotary piston engine having a pear-shaped piston with convex sides is mounted for rotation within a housing whose internal cross-section presents a symmetrical oval shape which is slightly constricted in the middle. The annulus between the piston and the housing is subdivided into intake, compression, expansion and exhaust chambers by four spring loaded vanes. A compression vane and a counter-piston vane are mounted on opposite sides of an external combustion chamber and their movements are coordinated to seal the combustion chamber with respect to the exhaust chamber and the intake chamber during compression and combustion. An engine separation vane, mounted for reciprocal movement and sliding engagement against the piston, separates the intake and exhaust chambers. A vane carried by the piston bears against the housing bore and subdivides each chamber in turn as the piston rotates. Combustion of compressed fuel/air mixture is accomplished while the external combustion chamber is isolated with respect to the intake and expansion chambers. The engine develops one power stroke per revolution, as compared with one power stroke on every other revolution in a conventional reciprocating piston engine.

Also disclosed is a twin rotor arrangement in which two rotors are supported within the housing on a common support shaft and separated by a partition wall with the respective lobe portions and sealing members being at diametrically opposed positions within the housing to dynamically balance the forces within the machine.

    • The invention relates to engines of the kind having rotors and being supplied by a fluid under pressure, and is especially directed to an engine of this type capable of being coupled to a closed circuit comprising for example a generator of steam under pressure. The engine comprises a stator formed by a cylindrical casing closed by transverse end-plates and equipped with moving partitions, and a rotor having a lateral working face constituted by a semi-elliptical portion and a semi-circular portion adapted to co-operate with said partitions so as to form working chambers for a fluid acting to cause rotation of said rotor which is keyed on a shaft conventionally mounted in said stator, and means for ensuring fluid-tightness between said stator and said rotor, said means comprising a plurality of straight segments formed by beads of a material of low coefficient of friction inserted in straight grooves formed in the face of said stator, the longitudinal jointing together of any two segments being effected by mitre joints, half-lap joints or other like joints used in carpentry. The engine of the invention does not cause any pollution of the atmosphere; furthermore, it can give silent operation in a closed circuit by connecting its final exhaust to the inlet of the source of fluid under pressure.
