The spool comprises a body having a longitudinal axis and a plurality of coaxially arranged annular members joined by yielding spacing elements; the spacing members extend in a mainly inclined direction with respect to the spool axis, flush to said annular members to define a yarn winding surface. The body furthermore comprises longitudinal stiffening members having breakable stop portions protruding from adjacent annular members to define stop means allowing an axially controlled compression of the body of the spool.

摘要： Filamentary or thread textile material is wound onto lap creels (2), which are capable of being pushed, in a telescoping manner, one into the other to form stacks (3). Each stack (3) is covered with a film tube or hose (6) which is shrunk onto the stack for holding together the individually wound lap creels (2). Immediately prior to a treatment, several stacks (3) are formed into a column, which is compacted by an axially effective compression. The slackened tension of the film tube (6) is then re-established by renewed shrinkage thereof prior to or at the start of the treatment of the textile material. Film material capable of repeated shrinking, especially heat shrinking is used for this purpose.

In a further embodiment a similar sleeve is provided wherein the webs are grouped in pairs to provide axially consecutive pairs of webs laterally offset relative to each other whereby when the rings and the webs are yielding in response to axial compression of the sleeve, the rings become serpentine and the webs become bowed. In still a further embodiment, a sleeve similar to the first mentioned is provided wherein the axially consecutive webs being laterally offset relative to each other are all adapted to yield uniformly during compression of the sleeve, as for example during a dyeing operation.
