摘要： An apparatus for forming a cotton/rayon blended yam. The apparatus includes a supply of cotton fibers and a supply of rayon fibers. A blending operation line blends the cotton fibers and the rayon fibers. The fibers are then spun in an open end spinning turbine having a twist multiple of less than about 3.7 at a rotor speed of less than about 112,000 RPM. A roughing navel downstream from the open and spinning turbine distressing the surface of the cotton/rayon blended yarn to further improve the hand of yarn. The yarn is then knitted or woven into fabric and finished. The resulting fabric, and apparel made therefrom, has the advantage of having a particularly soft and luxurious hand, particularly compared to fabric knit from 100% cotton yarn.

摘要： Disclosed is a method of copolymerizing polyethylene glycol (PEG) into polyethylene terephthalate (PET) to achieve a polyethylene glycol-modified polyester composition that can be spun into filaments. The method includes the steps of copolymerizing polyethylene glycol into polyethylene terephthalate in the melt phase to form a copolyester composition, then polymerizing the copolyester composition in the solid phase until the copolyester is capable of achieving a melt viscosity that facilitates the spinning of filaments, and thereafter spinning filaments from the copolyester. A copolyester composition comprised of polyethylene glycol and polyethylene terephthalate is also disclosed. Fabrics made from fibers formed from the copolyester composition possess wetting, wicking, drying, flame-retardancy, static-dissipation, and soft hand properties that are superior to those of fabrics formed from conventional polyethylene terephthalate fibers of the same yarn and fabric construction.

The yarn is also preferably scoured and finished prior to knitting. The knit fabric is preferably made into a rental shirt or like garment, the fabric having a maximum shrinkage of about 8% both in length and width unrestored after five wash and tumble dry sequences per AATCC Test Method 135, a colorfast rating of 4.0 or higher when subjected to AATCC Test Method 61-IIA, has a rating of 4.0 or higher when tested for pilling, and a life expectancy of at least 50 industrial laundering wash-dry-wear cycles.
