    • An inflatable package adapted to be formed into a packaging system for retaining an article therein is formed with a pair of overlying inner panels defining a pocket therebetween adapted to retain an article therein and an inflating portion for communicating through the overlying inner panels. A pair of outer panels is provided, each outer panel overlying a respective one of the inner panels and each outer panel being associated with a different one of the inner panels to form an inflatable chamber therebetween. Overlying edge portions of the inner and outer panels are secured together, except at one side of the package where only overlying edge portions of each respective pair of the inner and outer panels are secured together and the inner panels remain unattached to each other to expose the pocket and inflating portion. The inflatable chambers are at least partially inflated with a filler medium which is communicated to the inflatable chambers through the inner panels within the inflating portion. The inflatable chambers are sealed upon inflation by inflation pressure from the inflatable chambers acting upon the inflating portion.

    • A rugged mailing envelope which has a pattern or design printed on the outer surface of the envelope. The envelope is constructed from a clay coated paper which has a printed pattern on an outer surface and a layer of polyethylene on an inner surface. The polyethylene is typically 0.001 inches thick and contains a linear low density polyethylene. The thickness and mixture of polyethylene provides a coating which increases the strength and flexibility of the paper. Attached to the polyethylene is a sheet of bubble wrap adapted to protect any item placed within the envelope. The envelope has a single opening which can be sealed by an adhesive transfer tape that is normally covered with a strip of protective paper.

    • A packaging wrap of a paper and shock absorbing material combination in which the lower layers are cut at specified distances from the edges of the wrap to form strips, while the uncut layer provides hinges about which the strips rotate until lying flat upon the uncut layer, where such strips are secured in position. Because the width of each strip is less than one-half the width of the wrap, a hollow gap is formed in which all or a portion of an article may be inserted. The flexibility of the wrap is increased by crimping the wrap along lines substantially perpendicular to the length of the wrap at intervals along the length of the wrap.

    • A pouch for protecting electrosensitive components contained therein from physical shock and electrostatic damage during handling and storage. In one embodiment, the pouch comprises two composite panels, each comprising a sheet of conductive material as the outside layer, a sheet of electrostatic-free material as the inside layer and a layer of open cell cushioning material sandwiched therebetween. Each panel is sealed to enclose the material therein and both panels are then sealed together on both sides and one end. The open end has an interlocking closure to allow components to be inserted into the pouch and for the pouch to be thereafter closed.In another embodiment, the pouch is formed of a pair of extruded, tubular members respectively constituting the conductive material layer and the electrostatic-free material layer with sheets of cushioning material sandwiched between them. The assembly is sealed at one end and provided with a releasable closure member at the other end.The pouch may also be formed as an elongated sandwich of the three material layers described, folded in half lengthwise and sealed along the side edges.

    • An air cushion foil (1) especially for packaging purposes, comprises a first smooth foil (2) of synthetic material and a second foil (4) having pocket-like depressions (3).
