    • Disclosed is an innerspring bed mattress with shredded fill inside the mattress central spring core, around, between, in and inside the springs. The shredded fill is generally particulate, and may be of conventional types, sizes and shapes of resilient and compressive materials. Preferably, the fill is shredded organic latex rubber foam fill, obtained from the scrap of organic latex rubber mats used in conventional mattress upholstery layers manufacture. Alternatively, the fill may be specially designed and manufactured to obtain specific dampening characteristics for a specific combination of spring, upholstery and fill types, for example.

    • Disclosed herein is a bedding or seating product (10) having a spring core (12) comprising coil springs (26) having unknotted end turns (72, 74) made from high tensile strength wire. In each embodiment, the end turns (72, 74) of the coil springs (26) are generally U-shaped having one arcuate leg (76) longer than the other (78), the legs (76, 78) being joined by a connector (80) having an arcuate bump (81) therein. The springs (26) are oriented in the spring core (12) such that a long leg (76) of one end turn (72) abuts a short leg (78) of the adjacent end turn (72) prior to be wrapped in helical lacing wire (32). The high tensile wire enables the coil springs (26) to be manufactured using less wire than heretofore possible.

The linear spring has a thin resilient vertical wall extending longitudinally in the horizontal direction, which may be pleated with at least one (and preferably a plurality) of pleats which extend longitudinally along the wall. The invention may further have a second wall identical to and parallel to the first wall, which may be connected by plates at top and bottom and at medial points to make a linear spring of rectangular cross section. Embodiments of short length create an inexpensive spring having a generally rectangular platform; longer embodiments create an inexpensive spring in the general shape of a box beam. The linear spring may be produced by an extrusion process, in which polymer compounds are forced through a die in the shape of the linear spring cross section.
