摘要： An ink jet printing method is provided which, although it uses an ink jet print head with a fixed small ink ejection volume, can form an image with a desired density by performing data processing and printing at a lower pixel density. The dot arrangement pattern that determines the presence or absence of a printed dot in each of a plurality of element areas making up each pixel is allocated to the individual pixels according to their grayscale level. Then the printing dots are divided into a plurality of scans of the print head. At this time, for those pixels having a predetermined grayscale level, a plurality of dots are printed overlappingly in each of predetermined element areas of these pixels. This arrangement allows a greater number of dots than is determined by the allocated dot arrangement pattern to be printed in these pixels according to the grayscale level.

摘要： In a supply system which includes an ink container for reserving a predetermined amount of ink to be supplied to a printing head and which is configured such that ink is intermittently supplied to the container from an ink tank, there is provided a structure that fundamentally eliminates waste of ink associated with an operation of charging the container to apply a required negative pressure to the head. An ink containing body in which a negative pressure can be generated because of its elasticity is provided in the container. After the ink containing body is expanded to introduce ink into the same by depressurizing the interior of the container, the interior of the container is pressurized to contract the ink containing body, thereby returning a predetermined amount of ink to the tank. A negative pressure is thus generated in equilibrium with an ink meniscus holding ability of the head.

摘要： A method (300) is described of determining characteristic of an ink jet printer (15). A chart containing multiple regions or patches is printed (320) on a print medium (115) using the ink jet print (15). The chart includes at least a first region printed using a first set of nozzles, and at least a second region printed using a second set of nozzles. The first and second sets of nozzles are a predetermined distance apart in the printer head of the printer (15). The printing of the first and second regions is also separated by a print medium advance operation equal to the predetermined distance. This causes the first and second regions to be aligned in the direction of the print medium advance operation. The chart is then imaged using scanner (16) chart to form a chart image. The positions of the regions appearing in the chart image are next determined (340). The spatial alignment characteristic of the printer is calculated from the distance, in the medium advance direction, between said first and second regions.

The fluctuation in the conveying error is reduced by the application of the correction value for eccentricity, and the influence of the excess area is made smaller before the correction value for outer diameter is acquired by averaging the conveying errors.

摘要： A recording apparatus to record an image on a recording medium using a recording head includes a first conveying roller, a second conveying roller, and a controller. In response to the second conveying mode being selected, the controller does not perform the rotational phase control.
