摘要： Provided is a video encoding and decoding method and apparatus using pixel-based prediction. A pixel-based video encoding apparatus includes a block prediction unit, a residual image generation unit, a pixel prediction unit, and an entropy-coding unit. The block prediction unit performs temporal or spatial prediction between a reference image and a current image in order to generate a prediction block corresponding to a current block to be encoded. The residual image generation unit generates a residual image block composed of a residual signal corresponding to a difference between pixels of the prediction block and pixels of the current block. The pixel prediction unit determines whether to apply differential pulse coded modulation (DPCM) to each of pixels of the residual image block based on a rate distortion optimization (RDO) value calculated for the case where DPCM is applied to each of the pixels of the residual image block and a RDO value calculated for the case where DPCM is not applied to each of the pixels of the residual image block. The entropy-coding unit performs entropy-coding on the residual image block.

摘要： The present invention relates to modality conversion for supporting Quality of Service (QoS) according to media resources, which includes the steps of receiving a modality conversion descriptor in which the characteristics of the modality conversion of the multimedia contents are described, receiving the multimedia contents, and converting the modality of the multimedia contents into a modality determined according to a media resource and the modality conversion descriptor. According to the present invention, a systematic approach to a design for an overlap content value model is provided so that the conversion boundaries between modalities can be quantitatively calculated. As a result, the correlation between various modalities can be established in a single model, and modality conversion supporting the optimal QoS can be performed.

摘要： Disclosed are a method and a system that could adaptively improve the visual quality of people with low-vision impairment, regardless of network and terminal. The low-vision impairment is described by a set of “symptoms” that is semantically defined. As the description tool of low vision impairments, it is flexible and reliable to use the proposed “symptoms” based descriptions rather than individually identified names of eye disease, because the user can describe his/her low-vision impairment by specifying associated symptoms based on his/her own experience. The inputted visual contents are adaptively transformed according to the low vision-impairment.

摘要： Provided is a method for controlling synchronizing downmix signals and MPEG surround side information signals by controlling a delay according to the kind of downmix audio signals in an MPEG surround decoder. When multi-channel audio signals are restored using an HE-AAC decoder and a low-power MPEG surround decoder and complex QMF signals outputted from the HE-AAC decoder are used as downmix signals, a delay unit compensates for a delay caused in a real-to-complex converter. Anther delay unit delays spatial parameters to compensate for a delay caused in QMF and Nyquist banks when time-domain downmix signals are used. Also, when multi-channel audio signals are restored using an HE-AAC decoder and a high-quality MPEG surround decoder and complex QMF signals outputted from the HE-AAC decoder are used as downmix signals, a delay unit compensates for a delay caused in a real-to-complex converter.
