    • A plasma display panel with improved brightness and luminous efficiency is disclosed. The plasma display panel according to one embodiment comprises a rear substrate, a front substrate offset from the rear substrate, barrier ribs disposed between the front substrate and the rear substrate, discharge cells partitioned by the barrier ribs, discharge electrode pairs extending in a first direction across the discharge cells, address electrodes that extend across the discharge cells in a second direction that intersects the first direction, phosphor layers disposed in the discharge cells, and discharge gas is present within the discharge cells. In some embodiments, the discharge electrode pairs comprise a pair of bus electrodes that extend across the discharge cells and a pair of transparent electrodes, wherein one end of each of the transparent electrodes is connected to one of the pair of the bus electrodes and the other end of each of the transparent electrodes extends in a direction away from the center of each of the discharge cells.

    • The claimed invention is directed to an improved plasma display panel having an enhanced illumination of blue phosphors. Illustratively, a plasma display panel may include first and second substrates provided with a predetermined gap therebetween. Address electrodes are formed on the first substrate, and a first dielectric layer is formed covering the address electrodes. Barrier ribs are formed on the first dielectric layer to a predetermined height to thereby define discharge cells, and phosphor layers are formed within the discharge cells. Discharge sustain electrodes are formed on the second substrate in a state substantially perpendicular to the address electrodes. A second dielectric layer is formed covering the discharge sustain electrodes. A protection layer is formed coating the second dielectric layer, the protection layer including MgO. The discharge cells and/or the protection layer include a Gd group compound. During use, the Gd group compound produces an enhanced illumination of blue phosphors.

    • A plasma display panel that includes a first plate and a second plate that are sealed to each other to form discharge cells. The discharge cells generate images by gas discharge. The plates include an exhaust port that is formed along an edge of the first plate to define a path to connect to the discharge cells, an exhaust tube on the outside of the first plate that is connected to the discharge cells through the exhaust port, and a pad that is formed around the exhaust port and the exhaust tube of the first plate. This structure effectively blocks a noise path around the exhaust port and the exhaust tube formed in the rear plate.

The PDP may satisfy the equation 180≦(A+B)+P×0.1≦240 in which A is a distance between opposite recessed portion of a pair of a first electrode and a second electrode; it is a distance between opposite projection portions of the pair of the first electrode and the second electrode, and P is a gas pressure of a discharge gas contained in the discharge space. In another embodiment a gas pressure of a gas trapped in a discharge space (e.g., “cell” or “discharge cell”) may be over 450 Torr. Additionally, each opposing end of the first electrode and the second electrode may include a recessed portion and a projection portion such that a gap interposed between the opposing end portions varies in width.
