摘要： An integrated safety system (20) comprises a rope grab (100), a body engagement device such as a harness (200, 201) or waist belt to be worn by a person (22), a lanyard (104) and lowering device (300). The harness (200, 201), which also constitutes a part of the invention by itself, comprises a compartment (202) for the lowering device (300), and also a first connector (224), a second connector (220) and in one embodiment (201) additionally comprises a third connector (600). The lanyard (104) is securable to the first connector (224) of the harness (200, 201) and to the rope grab (100) to enable the person (22) to be suspended thereby in the event of a fall. The lowering device (300) is stored in the compartment (202) of the harness (200, 201) until needed and is arranged to be mounted on the safety line (28) by the person (22) while the person is suspended thereby after a fall. The second connector (220) of the harness (200, 201) is then readily connectable to the lowering device (300) by the person (22) as he/she is suspended by the rope grab (100). The method of using the safety system also constitutes a part of this invention.

摘要： In a coin sensing station, coins pass edgewise along a passageway through a transparent block and interrupt three optical sensing beams that transverse the passageway at spaced locations. The beams are produced by light emitting diodes which direct light into the block where it is directed by reflection from inclined surfaces integrally molded into the block. By use of a beam splitting means, it is possible to direct the first and second sensing beams from a single source beam, across the passageway at different, spaced apart locations.

摘要： An ice-gripping attachment device for securement to the sole of primary footwear, e.g., a boot. The attachment device includes comprises a front section, a rear section, and a pair of straps interconnecting the sections. The front section includes a front sole portion having a toe box disposed over it. The rear section includes a rear sole portion and a heel cup disposed over it. The toe box is adapted for accommodating the toe portion of the boot, while the heel cup is arranged for accommodating the heel portion of the boot. The pair of straps interconnect the toe box and the heel cup along the medial and lateral sides of the boot and are located above the front sole portion and the rear sole portion so that they do not contact the ground when attachment device is in place on the boot. The straps are arranged to be releasably secured together by VELCRO.RTM. or other hook and loop fasteners and can be extend about the upper of the boot to prevent the rear section of the device from becoming disengaged from the boot. The underside of the sole of the attachment device includes ridges and ice-penetrating projections or studs to provide a non-slip surface.

摘要： A buckle for a belt or harness comprising a ring member defining a hollow interior space, a slidable bar, and releasable securable lock. The ring member has a first and a second side section, and a first and a second end section, which are connected to one another. The slidable bar is mounted between the side sections and is movable between a position immediately adjacent the first end section and a position immediately adjacent the second end section. The first end section of the buckle is securable to one portion of a web of the belt or harness. A free end portion of a web of the belt or harness is arranged to extend through the ring's interior space between the first end section and the slidable bar, around the bar, and through the space between the bar and the second end section, from which it exits beyond the second end section of the buckle. Pulling on the free end of the web causes the slidable bar with the web section therearound to slide into close proximity with the second end section to fictionally hold the web in place. The lock is a spring biased member arranged to be normally biased in an extended orientation over the slidable bar to tightly engage it and the web portion wrapped therearound and thereby prevent the accidental release thereof. The lock is manually actuable to release the spring biased member, the slidable bar and the web section when desired.

Each mounting assembly is mounted adjacent a respective side of the billboard and comprises a connector connected between the links for securing the rope thereto. Each of the mounting assemblies is movable between and stowed position and an extended position and vice versa. Each connector is located closely adjacent the rear surface of the billboard when its associated mounting assembly is in the stowed position, and is located spaced in front of the front of the billboard when its associated mounting assembly is in the extended position. The rope is connected tautly between the connectors when the mounting assemblies are in the extended position to serve as a sliding anchor point to which a safety device, e.g., safety belt or harness, worn by a worker may be releasably secured.

摘要： An anchor system for use with a lanyard secured to a worker located at an elevated position to prevent the worker from falling. The anchor system is arranged to be releasably secured to a fixed member, e.g., an I-beam, adjacent the elevated position and comprises a releasable holding assembly and an associated connector assembly. The holding assembly comprises an elongated flexible strap and a releasable fastening/locking device. The releasable fastening/locking device is a ratchet-operated member fixedly secured to one end portion of the strap for receiving the other end portion of the strap so that the strap can be tightly encircled about a portion of the fixed member against accidental slippage or disconnection. The connector assembly comprises a sleeve having a ring fixedly mounted thereon. The sleeve is arranged to receive the strap therethrough to mount it on the strap at any desired position. The lanyard is connected to the anchor assembly via the ring.

摘要： Quick release means for a pair of footwear. The quick release means enables one to readily extract one's feet from the footwear without the use of one's hands. In that regard, each footwear of the pair includes a notch in the toe portion of the outsole and a projection extending generally upwardly from the heel portion. The removal of the footwear is accomplished when one positions his or her feet so that a portion of the outsole of one of said pair of footwear overlies the projection of the other of said pair, with the notch receiving the projection, therein. This enables the wearer to readily extract one of his or her feet from one of the footwear. Obviously, to extract both feet, the first foot is only partially extracted from the footwear initially selected for removal, enabling that same footwear to then be used to extract the other foot from its footwear.
