A magnetic recording medium having on one surface of a nonmagnetic support a lower layer comprising an inorganic powder and a binder and an upper magnetic layer comprising a ferromagnetic powder and a binder in that order, and having on the other surface thereof a backcoat layer, wherein: said nonmagnetic support comprises inorganic powder particles with a mean primary particle diameter in a range of from 40 to 200 nm; the number of particles of said inorganic powder in the cross-section of said nonmagnetic support is in a range of from 10 to 200/100 &mgr;m2, said nonmagnetic support exhibits a coercivity in a range of from 159 to 239 kA/m; and the overall thickness is equal to or less than 8 &mgr;m. A magnetic recording medium having on one surface of a nonmagnetic support a lower layer comprising an inorganic powder and a binder and an upper magnetic layer comprising a ferromagnetic powder and a binder in that order, and having on the other surface thereof a backcoat layer, wherein: said nonmagnetic support comprises inorganic powder particles with a mean primary particle diameter in a range of from 10 to 200 nm; the number of particles of said inorganic powder in the cross-section of said nonmagnetic support is in the range of from 10 to 200/100 &mgr;m2, the amount of curl d in the direction of width of said magnetic recording medium is equal to or higher than 0.4 mm and equal to or less than 1.0 mm in the direction of protrusion of the magnetic layer at a width of 6.35 mm; and the overall thickness is equal to or less than 8 &mgr;m.

    • A bi-directional line switched ring network system including a plurality of optical fiber communications lines and a plurality of nodes connected by the plurality of optical fiber communications lines forming a closed circuit. Each of the nodes performs an addition and a drop of a path between an external communications apparatus and the optical fiber communications lines or permits the path on the optical fiber communications lines to pass through, or performs a change of a direction of the path. A control unit is located in each of the nodes to control the addition, the drop, the pass-through and the direction change of the path. When the path passes through each of the nodes, the control unit sets a time slot number of the path in being inputted into the node and a time slot number of the path in being outputted from the node independently of each other.

    • A terminal multiplexer is constructed in such a manner that it can be upgraded for adapting to a change in a transmission system. Line terminating equipment (LTE) having working high speed transmission lines and protection high speed transmission lines in 1:1, is constructed from such units as two sets of 10G interfaces responsible for interface with the high speed transmission lines, and SELH which selects a high speed transmission line for which multiplex conversion is performed in relation to low speed transmission lines When this LTE is to be upgraded to ADM adapted for 2-Fiber BLSR, the unit SELH is replaced with SWH which performs switching of signals in each time slot between a high speed transmission line and the low speed transmission lines.
