Each of the appliances has a different respective function and has an outer housing having a flat upper surface, side surfaces extending downwardly from the upper surface and a flat front surface extending between the side surfaces. Each housing is shaped so that the appliances can be juxtaposed with contiguous side surfaces on a horizontal support surface with substantially flush upper surfaces and substantially flush front surfaces. This enables the surfaces of the surfaces of the housings which are exposed to dirt and grease to be quickly and easily wiped clean.

摘要： A bone plate for use in anterior lumbar spinal fixation has interlocking components to prevent dislodgement of the plate due to anatomical forces. The exposed surface of the plate is smooth to prevent trauma to internal body tissue. The plate spans the intervertebral space with each end attached to an adjacent vertebrae by locking screws threadably engaged with tubular bone anchors. The bone anchors are threaded into the vertebrae and have a reduced diameter leading end which the locking screws expand to lock the anchor in the vertebrae and secure the end of the locking screw in the anchor. The plate has a countersunk cavity including portions overlapping the locking screws. A locking cap fits in the cavity to secure the other end of the locking screws from backing-out of the plate.

摘要： A power operated tape measure enables measuring tape extension through a drive mechanism as well as measuring tape retraction through at least one of a drive mechanism and spring biasing on a tape reel. A tape cartridge assembly including an annular reel and a measuring tape wound onto the reel is positioned within a housing shell of the tape measure. A drive mechanism accomplishes tape extension out of the housing shell, and optionally, tape retraction into the housing shell by engaging with a surface of the measuring tape. An actuator initiates input on one or more switches that selectively control operation of the drive mechanism, and includes a lever arm for a user to make selections regarding tape extension and retraction. The actuator may be arranged such that lever arm motion in a forward direction enables tape extension and lever arm motion in a rearward direction enables tape retraction.

The drive assembly couples the motor with the tape assembly and includes at least one gear. The tape retraction prevention device includes a pawl that may engage with the gear to prevent rotation of the drive assembly and, in turn, unintended retraction of the tape into the housing.

The displaceable clamp member may be repositioned by a drive assembly, or may be manually adjusted. In another embodiment of the invention, the stationary clamp member may be repositioned on the frame to alter the dimensions of the clamp opening. In still another embodiment, the clamp device operatively connects to a secondary tool that engages the drive assembly.
