    • Aspects of a method and system for utilizing Givens rotation expressions for asymmetric beamforming matrices in explicit feedback information are presented. In one aspect of the invention, Givens matrices may be utilized to reduce a quantity of information communicated in explicit feedback information via an uplink RF channel. The explicit feedback information may include specifications for a feedback beamforming matrix that may be utilized when transmitting signals via a corresponding downlink RF channel. The feedback beamforming matrix may represent a rotated version of an un-rotated matrix. The Givens matrices may be utilized to apply one or more Givens rotations to un-rotated matrix. The feedback beamforming matrix may be computed based on a matrix product of a plurality of Givens matrices. The feedback beamforming matrix may be encoded utilizing fewer bits than may be required to encode the un-rotated matrix.

    • A method and system for bits and coding assignment utilizing Eigen beamforming with fixed rates for a closed loop WLAN is provided. Aspects of the method for communicating information in a communication system may comprise transmitting data via a plurality of radio frequency (RF) channels utilizing a plurality of transmitting antennas and receiving feedback information related to the plurality of RF channels. Bits may be assigned for transmission via at least one of the plurality of RF channels based on the feedback information. At least a portion of subsequent data having at least a first coding rate based on the assignment of bits may be transmitted via at least one of the plurality of RF channels. The method may also comprise receiving data via a plurality of RF channels utilizing a plurality of receiving antennas, and transmitting feedback information related to the plurality of RF channels.

    • Aspects of a method and system for a multiple-stream SFBC/STBC using angle feedback are presented. In one aspect of the method and system signals from M distinct spatial streams (NSS=M) are utilized to generate a plurality of 2M distinct transmit chain signals (NTX=2M) that are concurrently transmitted via a plurality of 2M transmitting antennas by a transmitting station. The set of concurrently transmitted transmit chain signals may be received at a receiving station via a plurality of NRX receiving antennas, where NRX≧M. The receiving station may compute a rotation angle value for each of a plurality of M−1 spatial streams among the plurality of M spatial streams. The receiving station may communicate the computed rotation angle values to the transmitting station. The transmitting station may utilize the received rotation angle values to generate subsequent concurrently transmitted signals.
