摘要： A rapid, simple-to-use method for preparing hybrid cells, applicable to fully differentiate, non-dividing cells, entails bringing at least two different cells into contact under conditions that promote cell fusion and then purifying the resultant hybrid without antibiotic or metabolic selection. This approach yields hybrid cells useful in a variety of applications, including clinical treatment regimens, as cellular modulators of the immune system.

摘要： The present invention relates to transgenic models of heart failure and, more particularly, to transgenic animals and methods for testing the usefulness of chemical compounds in treating or preventing heart failure. A transgenic mouse was developed wherein Gs&agr; is selectively overexpressed approximately three-fold in the heart. Although steady state adenylyl cyclase activities are not altered, both the percent of agonist high affinity &bgr;-adrenergic receptors as well as the rate of catalyst activation are increased. In addition, physiological and pathological studies revealed that chronically-facilitated sympathetic stimulation causes adverse cardiac effects.

摘要： A control valve system for a multiple ratio automatic transmission having a reaction brake for forward drive and a reaction brake for reverse drive. A first clutch establishes a driving connection between an input gear element and a torque input shaft establishes a forward drive torque flow path when the forward drive brake is engaged. A second clutch connects a different torque input gear element of the transmission to the torque input member when the reverse reaction brake is applied. A pressurized valve circuit with three variable force solenoids, including one variable force solenoid, establishes a controlled circuit pressure, a second variable force solenoid is dedicated for reverse engagement control and a third variable force solenoid is dedicated for forward engagement control, whereby independent reverse engagement pressures and independent forward engagement pressures on the clutches and brakes, are established. A neutral idle characteristic conditions the clutches and the brakes for minimal threshold capacity, which effectively interrupts the torque delivery path through the transmission when the torque input shaft is driven at idle speeds.

摘要： The invention relates to a replaceable die for pliers to press workpieces, such as for crimping pliers for pressing electrical connector elements. By replacing the die, the pliers can be adapted to the press operation to be performed, such as adapting a crimping pliers to different types and sizes of the connector elements to be pressed. The die according to the invention comprises a first and a second die half that can be inserted into the pliers together and removed from the pliers together. The two die halves each have a guide for this purpose. Both die halves each further have a first connecting element for releasably attaching the die to the pliers. Both die halves finally each have a second connecting element for releasably attaching the die to a storage fixture. This ensures that the die formed by the two die halves is held in the storage fixture during or after removal from the pliers, and remains therein for storage.
