摘要： There are provided methods and apparatus for multi-view video coding. A video encoder includes an encoder for encoding a block in a picture by choosing between temporal prediction and cross-view prediction to enable a prediction for the block. The picture is one of a set of pictures corresponding to multi-view video content and having different view points with respect to a same or similar scene. The picture represents one of the different view points. A high-level syntax is used to indicate the use of cross-view prediction for the block.

摘要： Film grain simulation within a receiver 4 occurs by first obtaining at least one block of pre-computed transformed coefficients. The block of pre-computed transformed coefficients undergoes filtering responsive to a frequency range that characterizes a desired pattern of the film grain. In practice, the frequency range lies within a set of cut frequencies fHL, fVL, fHH and fVH of a filter in two dimensions that characterizes a desired film grain pattern. Thereafter, the filtered set of coefficients undergoes an inverse transform to yield the film grain pattern.

摘要： Reduction in the blockiness of a simulated film grain block can be achieved either by the use of adaptive downscaling or adaptive deblocking filtering to adjust the intensity of the pixels at the block edge in accordance with at least one film grain block parameter, such as film grain size, intensity and texture. Performing such adaptive downscaling or adaptive deblocking filtering achieves improved performance at lower computational cost by avoiding modification of film grain block pixels in lesser affected areas.

摘要： Concealment of errors in a coded image occurs by first selecting an inter-prediction mode in accordance with the coding of the image. The selected intra-prediction mode, while ordinarily used to specify the direction for obtaining a coding prediction value, also serves to specify the direction for obtaining estimated values for error concealment. An interpolation filter defines the manner of obtaining estimated pixel values along the direction specified by the intra-prediction mode. Like the intra-prediction mode, the interpolation filter is derived in accordance with the coding of the image. Concealment of the image is achieved using the estimated values obtained in the manner prescribed by the interpolation filter.

摘要： There are provided methods and apparatus for enhanced performance in a multi-pass video encoder. An apparatus includes a video encoder for encoding a video bitstream. The apparatus further includes a video quality analyzer, in signal communication with the encoder, for performing a video quality analysis of the video bitstream for a given encoding pass to detect encoder compression artifacts in the video bitstream, and providing to the encoder information relating to the encoder compression artifacts to enable a re-encoding setup of the encoder to reduce an occurrence of the encoder compression artifacts in subsequent re-encoding passes. At least one of the video quality analysis and the re-encoding setup are automated.
