    • Disclosed is a keyword extraction apparatus and method capable of overcoming a problem in the conventional automatic keyword extraction wherein character strings in a sentence to be processed are employed, as they are, to assign a document with an index in terms of keywords; hence words having the similar meaning but different expressions in written language cannot be retrieved. The keyword extraction apparatus comprises technical term storage means for storing technical terms with proper expressions and different expressions thereof, and basic word storage means for storing general basic words of high frequency. Technical-term segmentation point setting means cuts out a range of any of the technical terms stored in technical term storage means from an input sentence. When the cut-out technical term is written in a different expression, the different expression is replaced by a corresponding proper expression in proper expression replacing means. Character-type segmentation point setting means detects a difference in character type in the input sentence. Basic-word segmentation point setting means cuts out, from the input sentence, a range of any of the basic words stored in the basic word storage means. Partial character string cutting means cuts out, as keywords, all relevant partial character strings based on segmentation points set by the technical-term segmentation point setting means, the character-type segmentation point setting means and the basic-word segmentation point setting means.

The source of the P-channel MOS transistor of the other CMOS circuit is connected to the power source through the semiconductor substrate, the epitaxial layer, and an N-type semiconductor region formed on the epitaxial layer.

    • A tensioner having a simplified structure, using engaging teeth having increased strength and reduced backlash, constructed from a reduced number of parts, reduced in cost, and having increased design freedom. A tensioner comprises: a tubular member (1) having engaging teeth (1b) formed thereon; one or more engaging elements (2) having formed thereon engaging teeth (2a) engaging with the engaging teeth (1b); and a shaft member (3) provided inside the tubular member (1) and having an engaging-element receiving section (3c) or an engaging-element supporting section which receives the engaging elements (2) of the tubular member (1). Either the tubular member (1) or the shaft member (3) functions as an advancing member which is moved by urging force in an advancing and retracting manner. The tensioner is provided with a ratchet mechanism which, when the engaging elements (2) move in a diameter reducing direction and move over the engaging teeth of the tubular member (1), allows the advancing member to advance forward, and when the engaging elements (2) move in a diameter expanding direction and engage with the engaging teeth of the tubular member (1), prevents the advancing member to retract.

    • A vehicle brake unit (10) includes a brake drum (11) as a rotating member of metal, brake shoes (12) as a friction engagement means, and a parking brake mechanism (20) for frictionally engaging the shoes (12) with a friction sliding surface (11a) of the drum (11) in accordance a parking brake operation by a driver. The brake unit (10) has a corrosion prevention device (30) composed of permanent magnets (31) and a coil (32) which constitute a power generation means, a battery (33) as a power storage means, and electrodes (34) as an electrical-conduction allowing means. By using electric power generated by the permanent magnets (31) and the coil (32) due to change in magnetic flux and stored in the battery (33), the corrosion prevention device (30) applies predetermined electric power to the drum (11) via the electrodes (34) which are electrically connected to the drum (11) when the brake shoes (12) are frictionally engaged with the friction sliding surface (11a) by the parking brake mechanism (20). Thus, the corrosion prevention device (30) electrically prevents corrosion of metal members of the brake unit (10).
