    • An adaptive beacon coordination method in a communication network using signal formats mutually incompatible. A coordination device broadcasts a first beacon in a first signal format and a second beacon in a second signal format in a superframe. The first and second beacons are used to send medium access information to a client device having the first signal format and a client device having the second signal format, respectively. When there are three or more signal formats in a network, the coordination device can broadcast three or more beacons. The number of beacons can be adapted to various superframes according to the functions of all the client devices in the network. If all the client devices support a signal format, the coordination device broadcasts only a single beacon in the signal format. After a predetermined number of superframes, the coordination device again starts to broadcast beacons so that new client devices having different respective signal formats can join the network.

    • An embodiment of an input-buffer circuit may include an input stage with an inverter having an input operable to receive a signal to be translated. The input stage may include a limiting circuit coupled to the input stage for arresting quiescent current. Additional embodiments of an input-buffer circuit formed according to the subject matter disclosed herein may include feedback transistors suited to provide additional current to the input stage and a hysteresis circuit suited to provide hysteresis current to the input stage when an input signal has a high-frequency change rate.

    • A composition and method for encapsulating colorant molecules in polymeric particles are described. Colorant molecules, such as dye, are doped or embedded in a particle, at least in part, composed of a halogen-containing polymeric matrix that can effectively isolate the dye molecules from reaction with photo-oxidizing or reducing agents. The isolated colorant molecule is protected from photo-bleaching and other color degradation, and show superior photo-stability. The encapsulating polymer matrix can be cross-linked and can have a variety of surface functional groups, which may be adapted to help achieve either strong ionic or covalent binding to desired substrates. Also described are methods for producing protective particles, and ink mediums for applying the particles to substrates.
