    • An LGA connector assembly (1) includes an LGA connector (2) and a generally rectangular pick-up cap (3). The connector includes an insulative housing (21), a plurality of contacts (22) received in the housing, and a metal clip (25) mounted on the housing. The clip is disposed on the housing to press the CPU upon the contacts and has two opposite slant sides (256). The pick-up cap is generally rectangular, and has clasps (307, 308) at two opposite ends thereof. The clasp defines a first and second sidewalls (314, 316) at two opposite ends thereof, a declining face (318) connecting the first and second sidewalls. The declining face declines at a same direction as the slant sides of the clip. The clasps snappingly clasp sides of the clip of the connector, thereby securely mounting the pick-up cap onto the connector.

    • A socket (20) includes a dielectric housing (30) and conductive terminals (40) secured in the housing. The housing defines upper and lower surface (322, 324) and a number of cells (320). Each terminal has a retention body (42) secured in a corresponding cell. The body has an upper end (422) flushed with the upper mating surface and a lower end (424) projected beyond the lower surface. Upper and lower protrusions (321, 323) extend from the upper and lower mating surfaces of the housing respectively, for supporting conductive pads (51, 53) of mating electrical devices. The lower protrusions project beyond the lower surface a vertical distance farer than that of the lower end. Thereby the pads can be prevented from electrically engaging the bodies when the mating electrical devices mate with the socket.

    • A pick up cap for an LGA connector, the connector has a housing which defines a multiplicity of passageways, a plurality of electrical contacts received in the passageways, a metal clip and a pick up cap. The clip defines a rectangular window in the middle thereof. Around the window there are two opposite sidepieces and two opposite urging sides. The pick up cap is detachably mounted on the clip. The pick up cap has a rectangular planar body which defines two opposite end portions and two opposite side portions. Each of the two side portions has a waist. When the pick up cap is mounted on the clip, two end portions engage with two opposite sidepieces, two opposite sidepieces and two opposite end portions cooperatively define two rifts therebetween.

    • An electrical contact (1) for electrically interconnecting two electrical components (3, 4) includes an inverted “U”-shaped retention portion (11), a substantially “U”-shaped extending portion extending (12) from the retention portion. The extending portion defines first and second mating portions (122, 121) respectively at uppermost and lowermost sections thereof, for engaging with the electrical components. The extending portion forms an engaging portion (125) to mate with the retention portion. Thus two parallel electrical paths are formed between the first and second mating portions when the contact electrically mates with the two electrical components. As a result, impedance of the contact is decreased and good resilient characteristics of the contact are attained.

The second axis is deflective from the first axis and an angle C is formed therebetween accordingly. Thus, the superposed area between the contacting portion and the mating component is increased, which enables more reliable electrical connection therebetween.

    • An LGA connector assembly (1) includes an LGA connector (2) and a generally rectangular pick up cap (3).
