摘要： The present invention provides methods for treating Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, Giardia lamblia, and Cryptosporidium parvum in a subject in need of such treatment. The methods comprise adminstering to the subject a compound of Formula (I): ##STR1## wherein: R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each independently selected from the group consisting of H, loweralkyl, aryl, alkylaryl, aminoalkyl, aminoaryl, halogen, oxyalkyl, oxyaryl, or oxyarylalkyl;R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each independently selected from the group consisting of H, loweralkyl, oxyalkyl, alkylaryl, aryl, oxyaryl, aminoalkyl, aminoaryl, or halogen; andX and Y are located in the para or meta positions and are selected from the group consisting of H, loweralkyl, oxyalkyl, and ##STR2## wherein: each R.sub.5 is independently selected from the group consisting of H, loweralkyl, alkoxyalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, aminoalkyl, alkylaminoalkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, or alkylaryl or two R.sub.5 groups together represent C.sub.2 -C.sub.10 alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, or alkylene; andR.sub.6 is H, hydroxy, loweralkyl, alkoxyalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, aminoalkyl, alkylamino, alkylaminoalkyl, cycloalkyl, hydroxycycloalkyl, alkoxycycloalkyl, aryl, or alkylaryl;or a phamaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The compounds ar administered in an amount effective to treat the condition. The present invention also includes novel compounds useful in the treatment of Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, Giardia lamblia, and Cryptosporidium parvum.

摘要： An anionic polymerization initiator includes the C-lithio reaction product of an organolithium compound and a tertiary-amino allyllithium or a tertiary-amino xylyllithium. When used in an anionic polymerization, a functional group from the initiator is incorporated onto the head of the growing polymer and a lithium atom is incorporated at the "living" end of the polymer chain prior to quenching. The initiator may be used to polymerize a monomer(s) including diolefin monomers, monovinyl aromatic monomers and trienes, and the living ends of the polymers are effectively maintained even at temperatures of up to 300.degree. F. and higher. Such polymers exhibit an increased efficiency in coupling termination reactions, and products prepared from such polymers exhibit improved hysteresis characteristics. Products such as tires and the like can be prepared from such polymers and from vulcanizable elastomer compositions employing the polymers.

摘要： An anionic polymerization initiator includes a carbon-lithio salt of the adduct of a cyclic secondary amine with a conjugated diene. A method of preparing an anionic polymerization initiator includes reacting an excess of a cyclic secondary amine with a conjugated diene to form an adduct; and, reacting the adduct with an organolithium compound. A method of preparing a polymer includes forming a solution of one or more anionically polymerizable monomers in a hydrocarbon solvent; and, polymerizing the monomer with an anionic polymerization initiator comprising a carbon-lithio salt of the adduct of a cyclic secondary amine with a conjugated diene. A functionalized polymer includes the termination product of a living polymer having the general formula AYLi, wherein A is a functional group derived from an anionic polymerization initiator; and, Y is a divalent polymer radical; wherein the anionic polymerization initiator is a carbon-lithio salt of the adduct of a cyclic secondary amine with a conjugated diene.

摘要： A gear drive unit with an equalized shift is set forth. The gear drive unit is specifically a two-shaft transaxle having multiple forward speeds and at least one reverse speed. The transaxle specifically utilizes an existing transaxle housing originally designed to provide even more forward speeds. Certain existing internal components are also utilized. With the transaxle having fewer forward speeds, the forward speed gears are spaced farther apart on a shaft in the existing housing. To provide an equalized, in-line shift pattern, a shift coupling is employed between certain forward speed gears. The shift coupling connects one of the gears to the shaft when the coupling itself is engaged by a shift key of shift mechanism in the transaxle. Shifting through all gears is thereby accomplished by equal incremental movements of the shift mechanism of the transaxle.
