    • An apparatus and method for dispensing individual sheets of stack of adhesive coated sheets is disclosed. The apparatus is comprised of a carriage for receiving the stack of adhesive coated sheets; reciprocating means for intermittently driving the carriage from a first rest position to a second rest position and vice versa; and guiding means for directing the distal edge of a sheet from a guide input to a guide output as the carriage is driven by the reciprocating means from the first rest position to the second rest position or vice versa. The invention is useful for dispensing said sheets without requiring that each sheet be pulled through or drawn out the guide output under the force of the releasable adhesive bond between adjacent sheets. Using the invention, one may cause a sheet to be dispensed to a position where it is accessible to the user only when the sheet is actually needed.

    • An event tracing program generally receives performance data about an event occurring on the computer system from a data producer program. The event tracing program responds by recording the event performance data in one of a set of a log buffers. When a log buffer becomes full, the event tracing program places the log buffer on a buffer flush list. The filled buffer is then written out to a more permanent storage medium, such as a disk. From time to time, the event tracing program may also transfer a buffer to the flush list prior to becoming full after a time-out period. To prevent a buffer from being flushed while event performance data is being recorded in the buffer, a reference count is incremented prior to the record operation to signify that the buffer is currently being modified. For high performance on multiprocessor systems, the buffers are allocated per processor to minimize data sharing among processors.

    • A heating apparatus is provided which is improved in terms of its heating efficiencies over prior commercially available patio heaters. The heating apparatus includes a burner assembly housing containing a burner assembly for igniting fuel from a fuel source. The housing has a perforated wall so that the hot gases inside the housing can escape from the housing interior with the wall heating up so as to radiate infrared heat therefrom. The apparatus has a heat efficiency system which causes substantially all of the heat emanating from the housing to be used for heating of a preselected area about the apparatus. The heat efficiency system maximizes the amount of heat that is directed in a generally downward direction into the preselected area below the housing so as to minimize the heat loss and thus the amount of fuel that is necessary for heating of the preselected area.

    • A valve assembly is provided which includes a valve member for being shifted between open and closed positions, and a control member having an operative position for maintaining the valve member in the open position until a predetermined fluid level is reached and an inoperative position to allow the valve member to shift to the closed position at the predetermined fluid level. The valve assembly is preferably a two-way valve for use with LP tanks to prevent overfilling thereof beyond the maximum predetermined fluid level. A float assembly rises and falls in substantial correspondence to the rising and falling of the fluid level in the vessel space, and an actuator of the fluid assembly shifts the control member at the predetermined fluid level to the inoperative position to allow the valve member to shift to the closed position for preventing further fluid intake into the vessel. The use of the control member affords advantages in terms of providing a rapid and distinct cut off of fluid flow into the tank precisely at the predetermined fluid level.
