    • An automatic auxiliary axle control system is disclosed for a load-transporting motor vehicle having two or more primary axles and one or more auxiliary axles wherein the control system detects a noncompliant axle carrying weight condition when the weight of the vehicle acting on any one of the primary axles exceeds a prescribed maximum allowable axle carrying weight assigned to that axle and also when the weight acting on any group of the axles arranged consecutively exceeds a prescribed maximum allowable axle group carrying weight assigned to that axle group. And the control system on such detection effects auxiliary axle usage that results in no maximum allowable axle carrying weight and maximum allowable axle group carrying weight being exceeded provided the current gross vehicle weight does not exceed a prescribed maximum allowable gross vehicle weight determined by all of the axles and the current center of gravity of the vehicle is located within a certain compliance-manageable range. And with the control system also capable of effecting auxiliary axle usage outside this range suited to the existing condition, providing control over auxiliary axle usage by an operator of the vehicle, and producing useful information.

    • A reconfigurable fixed position suspension and support structure attached to the trailer body using a locking device consisting of pins, bolts and/or other fastening devices. The support structure has a removable locking device that when attached to the support structure locks the support structure and suspension into a fixed position relative to the trailer body. When the trailer is not in operation, the locking device can be removed allowing the suspension group to be reconfigured, and each suspension to be repositioned relative to the trailer body. The removable locking device is then reattached to the suspension support structure locking the support structure and suspension into a new fixed position relative to the trailer body.

    • A trailer sliding suspension is remotely controlled to move between locked and unlocked positions. To unlock the sliding suspension, the driver initiates generation of a first signal which is communicated to an electronic control unit of a trailer anti-lock brake system. The electronic control unit then generates an unlocking signal in response to the first signal to unlock the sliding suspension such that a position of the sliding position can be adjusted relative to a trailer supported by the sliding suspension. Once the sliding suspension is in the desired position, the driver generates a second signal which is communicated to the electronic control unit. The electronic control unit then generates a locking signal in response to the second signal to lock the sliding suspension to a trailer body rail.
