The calculator includes a microprinter having a paper feeding assembly including feeding elements disposed before and after the print position and in the same plane as the advancing paper for maintaining the paper flat during printing. In another embodiment of the invention, a detection sensor detects the absence of a paper strip at the print position for generating a signal for feeding the next paper strip so that paper is continuously fed to the print position.

摘要： A serial printer includes two character rings having raised characters disposed therearound. Both rings rotate on a common axis for selection of characters for printing. One character ring is laterally fixed relative to the common axis; the other character ring translates laterally along the common axis in a carriage driven by a pulley and wire, and biased for quick return. A solenoid actuated claw selects characters for printing as the character rings rotate. A single motor operating in a forward direction causes the character rings to rotate while character selections are made, sequentially causes a single hammer to strike both character rings simultaneously for printing on paper, and translates the carriage one position for serially printing the next digit in a number. Reversal of the motor, after a line of characters is printed, causes release and return of the carriage and advancement of the paper.

摘要： A printing apparatus for an electronic calculator or the like comprises a first type wheel formed with mathematical operator symbols which is fixed to a spline shaft and a second type wheel formed with digits which is slidably mounted on the spline shaft for integral rotation. A stepping motor rotates the spline shaft for character selection. A carriage is connected to the second type wheel and is movable by a cable wound around drive and take-up spools to move the second type wheel along the spline shaft for serial feed. A single electrical solenoid actuates a printing hammer for printing and subsequently actuates a ratchet and pawl mechanism to serially feed the second type wheel by one character position in one reciprocation of the solenoid plunger. A linkage initially connects the plunger to a first printing hammer associated with the first type wheel to print the mathematical operator and subsequently to a second printing hammer associated with the second type wheel to serially print digits from least significant to most significant.

摘要： An improved multipoint print mechanism for a recorder capable of recording as a function of time the changes in magnitude of a number of different variable quantities, such as temperature, pressure, voltage, or the like at various points of a system or process. The improved print mechanism for obtaining such records is characterized by a print carriage having a type belt, or in a preferred modification a pair of separately operable type belts driven by a common drive wheel and having loops carried on guide wheels mounted on individually controlled print arms. One type belt, or a type wheel, prints marks indicating the value of a measured quantity. The other type belt or wheel prints identification symbols for the marks. Depending upon the mode or operation of the print mechanism, as selected by an operator, records of known type may be produced, i.e., records comprised of a series of marks with no identification symbols or a series of marks with an occasional identifying symbol or a series of marks each accompanied by an identifying symbol.
