    • A networking method and system for performing data communication to a client computer from a server computer having a plurality of network interfaces through a network. The invention includes a LAN switch, provided between the network and the server computer. The LAN switch includes a plurality of communication paths correspondingly connected to the network interfaces of the server computer. Any one of the communication paths are usable to connect the client computer with the server computer. The invention further includes a selector for selecting one of the communication paths in accordance with a quality of service (QOS) requested by the client computer. The selector selects the communication path using information contained in a routing table in the server computer based on a network address of the network connected to the client computer. The routing table includes the address of the network connected to the client computer and addresses of network interfaces of the server computer correspondingly connected to the communication path.

    • An information processing system which reduces an access latency from a memory read request of a processor to a response thereto and also prevents reduction of the effective performance of a system bus caused by an increase in the access latency. In the information processing system, a memory controller is connected with the processor via a first bus and connected with a memory via a second bus, and a buffer memory is provided in the memory controller. The control circuit is controlled, before a memory access from the processor is carried out, to estimate an address to be possibly next accessed on the basis of addresses accessed in the past and to prefetch into the buffer memory, data stored in an address area continuous to the address and having a data size of twice or more an access unit of the processor.

    • A processing control method whereby a management server: assigns work to and executes said work on a computer; sets the processing start time and the processing end time for the aforementioned work as task execution information; sets a first physical resource amount, which is the amount of the physical resources of the aforementioned computer needed for execution of the aforementioned processing; acquires a second physical resource amount, which is the amount of the physical resources of the aforementioned computer that are being used; updates the processing start time for the aforementioned work to a time that is close to the current time when the aforementioned computer has the physical resources of the sum of the aforementioned first physical resource amount and the aforementioned second physical resources; and instructs the aforementioned computer to begin the aforementioned processing when the current time reaches the aforementioned processing start time.

    • A technique for determining task allocation for reducing power consumption of an entire system is disclosed. This system includes physical computers, a cooling apparatus for cooling the physical computers, and a power-saving control server for controlling the physical computers and cooling apparatus. The power-saving control server includes a virtual server layout generator which sets up a plurality of sets of task allocations with respect to the physical computers, a server power calculator for calculating power consumption of the physical computers in each task allocation, a physical computer profile used to estimate a heat release amount of the physical computers in each task allocation, a cooling power calculator which computes power consumption of the cooling apparatus, and a virtual server relocator which determines a task allocation with a total of calculated values of the server/cooling power calculators being minimized to be the optimum task allocation for the physical computers.
