摘要： A method for making a multi-layered liquid crystal display panel is provided herein. More particularly, the method enables double-sided rubbing on at least one of a plurality of stacked glass supports and avoids possible flaws in a rubbed surface through the utilization of a protective coating covering the rubbed surface, thus providing liquid crystal display panels with excellent image quality. The protective coating is of sufficient mechanical strength and easily removable by means of a remover.

摘要： A liquid crystal display device comprises a pair of substrates, a first patterned layer formed on a part of one of the substrates, a second layer formed on the remaining part of the one of the substrates, the thickness of the second layer being substantially identical to that of the first patterned layer to provide a layer uniform in thickness, and a third layer formed on the uniform layer to provide orientation of molecules of a liquid crystal layer disposed between the pair of substrates. The uniform layer is manufactured by the steps of forming the first patterned layer on part of the one of the substrates, and forming the second layer on the remaining part of the one of the substrates, using a lift-off method.

摘要： A multi-layer, matrix type liquid crystal display panel is provided with an electrode structure which prevents the display dots from being overlapped with each other. Each of display patterns is provided through the utilization of a necessary number of line electrodes and a necessary number of column electrodes. According to the present invention, at least a necessary number of the line electrodes per display pattern unit are disposed as a single family in the front side cell or in the rear side cell. The respective families of the line electrodes are disposed alternatively in the front cell or in the rear cell, keeping the display dots within the same display pattern from being overlapped with respect to each other.

In a further aspect, the plurality of pairs of the segmented display electrodes and the common electrodes are allotted equally to each of the pair of substrates.

摘要： An aging drive method for a thin film EL panel includes the performing a preparatory step of short-circuiting all transparent electrodes by a first connecting line, short-circuiting every other metal electrodes by a second connecting line and short-circuiting the other metal electrodes by a third connecting line. Thereafter four fields are repeatedly periodically executed for a specified period of time to thereby cause all picture elements of the panel to luminesce for aging. Each of the four fields includes a first step of applying a first voltage across the first and second connecting lines and across the first and third connecting lines to charge all the picture elements. Further a second step is included of applying a second voltage across the second and third connecting lines while holding the transparent electrodes in a floating state. This causes luminescence of the picture elements of the metal electrodes short-circuited by the second or third connecting line, with the voltage resulting from the charge on the picture elements stored in the first step and with the second voltage. The four fields are different from one another in the combination of the polarities of the first and second voltages.
