This makes it possible to properly select and process a signal to be followed in the electronic device where a plurality of command signals are redundantly supplied with respect to one command signal from the remote control device.

This allows the administrative server to confirm an authorized destination, based on the content request information received from the portable communication apparatus, when a content is provided from the administrative server managing the content.

摘要： The communications device of the present invention performs an authentication with the device at the other end automatically or through a simple operation, independently of an authentication scheme supported by the device at the other end. A communications device includes: a connecting section for establishing a connection with the other communications device according to the IrSimple scheme; an authentication section for performing an authentication by the IrSimple scheme; a connecting section for establishing a connection with the other communications device according to the IrDA scheme, an authentication section for performing an authentication according to the IrDA scheme; and a protocol switching section for causing the connecting section to initiate a connection and causing the authentication section to perform an authentication, when an authentication by the authentication section is unsuccessful. This makes it possible to switch to a protocol of the IrDA scheme and perform communications according to the IrDA scheme when the other communications device does not support device authentication of the IrSimple scheme although being compliant with the IrSimple scheme.

摘要： After an optical character reader initially identifies individual characters in a character array by matching their images with dictionary patterns, its character recognition system assigns upper and lower labels to the characters according to their highest and lowest positions relative to the character array. If these assigned values contradict with the labels preassigned to the identified characters, corrections are made accordingly and certain frequently occurring types of errors are checked in terms of these labels. Upper and lower case letters which are shaped similarly and certain similarly looking symbols can thus be correctly identified.
