    • In order that a tray in a disk exchanging position may not be brought out or damaged even when it is pulled, a disk recording/reproducing device includes a rack loader made slidable perpendicularly to the carrying direction of the tray, and a switch for turning ON/OFF in response to sliding action of the rack loader. The rack loader has a cam rod boss rising therefrom, and the tray is provided on its bottom face with a rack extending in its carrying direction and meshing with a pinion, and a generally L-shaped cam groove for fitting the cam rod boss loosely therein. The cam groove has a longitudinal cam groove extending in parallel with the rack, a transverse cam groove perpendicular to the rack, a corner cam groove formed obliquely between the longitudinal cam groove and the transverse cam groove, a trapezoidal curve portion formed near the back end of the longitudinal cam groove and curved generally in a trapezoidal shape, and a straight portion formed behind the trapezoidal curve portion and lying on an extension line of the longitudinal cam groove. A central portion of the trapezoidal curve portion and the corner cam groove portion at passing time of the cam rod boss provide OFF area of the switch, and the longitudinal cam groove and the straight portion provide ON area of the switch.

    • In order to provide a tray carrying-in starting mechanism for a disk drive, which is simple and reduces a load at the start of carrying-in of a tray, and in which a tray carrying-in action is started by pushing a tray having been carried out to a disk exchange position, the starting mechanism comprises a projection provided on a rear end portion of the rack with a predetermined spacing from a tooth at a rear end of the rack, an untoothed portion provided on an outer periphery of the gear that meshes with the rack, and a cam groove formed on the outer periphery of the gear to allow the projection to slide over a predetermined extent and to engage therewith, the projection engages with the cam groove when the tray is carried out to the disk exchange position, and the tray can be retreated a predetermined distance without rotation of the gear when the tray is pushed.

The gear switching mechanism comprises a first cam gear having first and second cam grooves formed therein and rotationally driven by the first motor; a clutch lever installed in a back-and-forth swingable manner around a pivot fixed to a body frame and a back edge fitted slidably into the first cam groove in the first cam gear; a second cam gear having a cam groove formed therein and connected to a traverse-unit moving unit via the cam groove; and a clutch gear pivotally supported by a front edge of the clutch lever and capable of switching of connection to a channel including a transmission gear engaging with a sub-tray rack for conveying the sub-tray to the playback position, or to a channel including the second cam gear and transmission gears connected to the second motor.

    • A tray carrying-in starting mechanism for a disk drive is simple and reduces a load at the start of carrying-in of the tray. The tray carrying-in action is started by pushing a tray that has been carried out to a disk exchange position. The starting mechanism comprises a projection provided on a rear end portion of a rack with a predetermined spacing from a tooth at a rear end of the rack. An untoothed portion is provided on an outer periphery of the gear that meshes with the rack, and a cam groove is formed on the outer periphery of the gear to allow the projection to slide over a predetermined extent and to engage therewith. The projection engages with the cam groove when the tray is carried out to the disk exchange position, and the tray can be retracted a predetermined distance without rotation of the gear when the tray is pushed.
