摘要： A method for providing a mobile device in a packet data network access to a channelized network is disclosed. At a gateway between the two networks, a first channelized network message that is encapsulated in a first IP data packet from the packet data network is received. The first channelized network message is retrieved and reformatted for sending over the channelized network. The gateway then receives a second channelized network message from the channelized network. An identifier of a mobile device associated with the second channelized network message is retrieved and an IP address for the identified mobile device is determined. Then, the gateway encapsulates the second channelized network message into a second IP data packet and sends the encapsulated second channelized network message to the identified mobile device in the packet data network.

First, a manager determines (201, 401, 601) that a site is unusable for a predetermined set of communication unit(s). The predetermined set of communication units may include one or more individual communication units or communication units that are affiliated with a particular talkgroup at a particular time. A zone controller (104) identifies (205, 405, 605) any communication units from the set that are registered at the unusable site. The zone controller sends (207, 407, 607) a message to the identified units to assist them in leaving the site. The communication units search (303, 505, 709) the near sites for usability and register (307, 515, 713) at new usable sites. An algorithm is provided to stagger registration by communication units at usable sites.

摘要： A system and method for interrupting a transmitting communication unit in a communication system. When a call is first initiated, the call is assigned to a communication channel and broadcast from a base site using the assigned communication channel. If it is determined that a transmitting communication unit should be interrupted, a zone controller signals a base site to generate an interrupt message. The base site generates an interrupt message containing an identification code for the transmitting communication unit and broadcasts the interrupt message on an outbound link of the communication channel. The transmitting communication unit, while transmitting on an inbound link of the communication channel, continuously monitors the outbound link. If the transmitting communication unit receives, on the outbound link, an interrupt message containing an identification code matching its own identification code, the transmitting communication unit stops transmitting.

摘要： A first infrastructure system device other than a mobile station generates an encryption key and encrypts the encryption key with a first intrakey associated with a first zone that includes a second infrastructure system device other than a mobile station, yielding a first encrypted encryption key. The first intrakey is used only by infrastructure system devices other than a mobile station for encrypting at least the encryption key prior to transport within the first zone. The first infrastructure system device forwards the first encrypted encryption key to the second infrastructure system device.
