摘要： This invention relates to an MFP having copy and scanner functions. The MFP in which image data flows from a line sensor to a DRAM via an A/D conversion unit and a reading control unit (RCU) and then from an image processing unit (IPU) to a printer via the DRAM has the following arrangement. Both the RCU and the IPU can execute a shading process. In the CM, the RCU executes the shading process. Then, the image is compressed and stored in the DRAM. In the SM, the RCU does not execute the shading process, and the image is temporarily stored in the DRAM without compression. The IPU reads out image data of each rectangle from the DRAM together with shading data, executes the shading process and various kinds of image processing, and outputs the image data to the DRAM.

摘要： An image retrieval method and apparatus for searching a plurality of images stored in an image file for a desired image are disclosed. When a designated image for designating an image to be retrieved for is input, and its color is designated, the sizes and colors are compared between description information which stores the feature of each of regions obtained by dividing each of images to be searched stored in the image file, and feature data of the designated image. In this manner, the regions, which are determined to be included in the designated image, of image data are obtained, and the similarities between the obtained regions of image data and the designated image are calculated. Image data having higher similarities are read out from the image file, and are displayed while being sorted in the descending order from the highest similarity.

According to this method, image data containing the difference between encoded data of two consecutive blocks corresponding to an image divided into a plurality of blocks is input. When cropping or connection of an image based on the image data is instructed, the difference between encoded data of two blocks which newly become consecutive in an image newly acquired by cropping or connection of the image is calculated based on encoded data contained in the image data. Image data which corresponds to the newly acquired image and contains the calculated difference as encoded data corresponding to a block of the newly acquired image is created.

摘要： When an image read start command is received from a PC, an image reading unit first sequentially reads an image of an original. An output signal of the image reading unit is processed by an analog signal processing circuit, an A/D converter, and an image processing circuit and is supplied to a transfer control circuit. When an instruction from the PC indicates a direct transfer mode, the transfer control circuit outputs the image data from the image processing circuit as it is to an interface. When the instruction from the PC indicates a temporary storage mode, the transfer control unit temporarily stores the image data into a storage medium of an auxiliary storage device. When there is a reading request from the PC, the transfer control circuit reads out the image data which is stored into the auxiliary storage device and transfers it to the PC through the interface.

The image is input in units of divided stripe-shaped images, and outline pixels are traced in units of input stripe-shaped images to extract horizontal and vertical vectors. The extracted vectors are stored in the memory. A vertical vector to be connected to each of the extracted horizontal vectors, and a horizontal vector to be connected to each of the vertical vectors are searched, thereby extracting an outline vector which clarifies the connection relationship among these horizontal and vertical vectors.
