    • A device for the controlled release of vapour and a method of dispensing a volatile medium into the air. The device includes a carrier impregnated with a volatile medium and a wrapper of flexible material surrounding said carrier for retaining the volatile medium on the carrier. Said wrapper has a plurality of contiguous tear strips arranged in longitudinal sequence disposed over the carrier that may be successively removed to expose a portion of the carrier of increasing size without any need to provide for relative movement of the wrapper and carrier. The method of dispensing a volatile medium into the air includes providing such a device, removing a first tear strip to expose a portion of the carrier, and subsequently removing an additional tear strip to expose a fresh area of carrier to maintain the concentration of volatile medium at a desired level.

    • A child-resistant, wick-based liquid emanation system includes a container which is capable of containing liquid and has an opening. A wick is partially disposed within the container and extends through the opening of the container. A hollow overcap encases the extended portion of the wick and has a closed, separable tip and an open base attached to cover the opening of the container. The system is activated by separating the tip from the overcap. A retainer may be provided for obstructing complete removal of the wick from the container through the overcap after the tip is separated from the overcap. The retainer can include a shoulder disposed in the overcap between the tip and the base to retain the wick toward the base of the overcap. Alternatively, a protrusion from the wick can engage an inner surface of the overcap or the container. In this case, the overcap can have a frangible portion facilitating separation of the tip, and the wick can extend past the frangible portion toward the tip.

    • There is disclosed a closure device (1) for attachment to the neck (2) of a container (3). The device has inner (4) and outer (5) coaxial parts movable one relative to the other and each has an exit orifice for the flow of fluid therethrough. The flow of fluid is controlled by one part being movable axially relative to the other part. A control device comprising a frusto-conical valve plug (10) on the outer part controls the flow of fluid from the container so that the movable one of the parts is movable between a closed off condition, an open conical pattern condition, and an open jet stream condition of fluid flow. Accordingly, the user of the closure device has a choice of type of fluid flow to be emitted from the container when the container is squeezed. The inner and outer parts are preferably interconnnected by a quick rise cam arrangement to assist quick separation of the parts.
