摘要： A brush seal is provided having a brush housing having a back plate and a front plate, a first layer of bristles disposed adjacent to the back plate, where at least one of the first layer of bristles has a first diameter. A second layer of bristles are disposed adjacent to the first layer of bristles, and at least one of the second layer of bristles has a second diameter. A third layer of bristles are disposed adjacent to the second layer of bristles, and at least one of the third layer of bristles has a third diameter. The first diameter and the third diameter are larger than the second diameter.

In one embodiment, the invention provides a brush seal comprising: a plurality of brush seal segments, each segment including: an arcuate fence; an arcuate backplate substantially circumferentially coextensive with the arcuate fence, the arcuate backplate including a first end and a second end; and a plurality of brush seal bristles between the arcuate backplate and the arcuate fence, the plurality of brush seal bristles being angled with respect to a radial axis of the arcuate backplate and at least one of the first end and the second end of the arcuate backplate; and a static member to which at least one of the plurality of brush seal segments is affixed.

摘要： The turbine includes a diaphragm having a seal carrier mounted in opposition to seal teeth carried by the rotary component. The seal carrier includes a seal face having a coating of abradable material enabling the rotary component to abrade the material from the seal face. The seal carrier is removable from the diaphragm and is carried by an axial extension integral with or removable from the outer diaphragm ring. A spring may be interposed between the seal carrier and the stationary component.

The apparatus includes a groove defined in a channel, a divider positioned in the channel such that a gap defined between the divider and the channel defines a leakage path, and a sealing member that extends at least partially within the groove and positioned to substantially prevent a flow though the leakage path.

摘要： A brazing process is provided that addresses the braze joint failure problems encountered in some multi-nozzle combustion end covers. The brazing process embodying the invention provides optimal, predictable low cycle fatigue joint life in particular when brazing 304L stainless steel parts using Amdry 915 braze alloy. The invention was realized in particular in the combination of and application of tightly controlled vital variables of gap, braze alloy, braze peak temperature hold time, cooling (quench) rate, surface finish and braze media to optimal limits for the process parameters. The process provides robust/reliable design limits for braze joints experiencing stress during operation.
