    • A mobile shelter comprising a vehicle, a post pivotally attached to the vehicle at one end, and releasably attached at the other end to an umbrella-like collapsible marquee. The marquee comprises a frame, whereby the marquee is attached to the post, a number of articulated brace assemblies pivotally connected to the frame, each brace assembly comprising a number of pivotally interconnected braces. The brace assemblies define a ground-resting end, and a pivot joint pivotally attached to a spreader ring, which in turn slidably engages the post. Upon sliding the spreader ring up and down about the post, the brace assemblies can be shifted between: a storage position, in which the brace assemblies are collapsed against the post and the ground-resting ends of the brace assemblies are located at the vicinity of the post; and a deployed position, in which the brace assemblies are deployed away from the post, the ground-resting ends of the brace assemblies are spaced-apart from the post and rest on the ground, and in which the spreader ring is releasably attached to the frame. To install the marquee, the post is pivoted away from the vehicle into a vertical stance, and the spreader ring is slid upwardly about the post, in order to shift the brace assemblies from their storage position to their deployed position, similarly to an umbrella. Then, once the brace assemblies are in their deployed position, the post can be released from the marquee's frame, and the vehicle can be driven away from the marquee with the post.

    • A building block for constructing a wall comprises a main body. The main body has an insulating core with concrete inner and outer shell members. The inner and outer shell members respectively cover inner and outer lateral surfaces of the insulating core. A vertical throughbore in the main body receives a vertical structural member. Top and bottom surfaces of the main body have complementary shapes for mating engagement when blocks are assembled one on top of the other. A female connector at a first end of the main body defines a retaining cavity. A male connector at a second end of the main body has a captive portion of shape complementary to the retaining cavity of the female connector, and blocks engagement in vertical and longitudinal directions when the blocks are assembled end to end. A construction system is also provided.

    • The push actuator has a fixed base which rotatably carries a selectively rotatable rotor. A horizontal band has a lower portion stacked in a helical pattern and has an upper portion engaged by the upper portion of a vertical band, to form a telescopic column. The lower portion of the vertical band is stacked in a spiral, separately from the horizontal band, the horizontal band is supported on the rotor with a helical ball support track along which a number of balls can roll and slide, to allow substantially frictionless rotation of the rotor member while the horizontal band remains rotatably stationary. A ball re-circulation unit allows the balls to circulate between the top of the track and the bottom of the track. Upon rotation of the rotor, the vertical column is formed by the horizontal band being lifted and its turns being spaced through its engagement on the rotating helical ball support track, and by each turn of the vertical band being inserted between two vertically successive turns of the horizontal band.
