    • PURPOSE: A hollow nozzle actuating ring is provided a stiff hollow actuating ring used to pivot the nozzle flaps that vector the nozzle exhaust flow through and can fit within a restricted envelope, for reducing weight of a hollowe nozzle to minimize the size of the nozzle system. CONSTITUTION: An actuating ring(86) has a generally hollow annular structure including axially spaced apart coaxial forward and aft walls(110,114), struts axially extending between and structurally joining together(118) the forward and aft walls, and a ring stiffening means for decreasing the effective ring bending and torsional length of at least one of the forward and aft walls between the struts. Stiffening means that has a means for spreading out loads transferred from the struts to one of the forward and aft walls and has A frames formed between the struts and at least one of the forward and aft walls and alternatively at least one structural brace extending diagonally between each of the struts and one of the forward and aft walls. The A frames may have filleted interior corners. The flap actuation linkage means that are circumferentially disposed around and structurally connected to the aft ring of the structure and actuator joint means that are structurally connected to the struts. The flap actuation linkage means and the actuator joint means preferably include spherical joint elements.

    • PURPOSE: A flexible flap for a deformable turbo machine nozzle is provided to remove stress of the flap by converting easily a flexible follower flap between boxes and to move freely the boxes to each other by arranging the boxes in parallel. CONSTITUTION: A flexible flap is positioned between two adjacent control flaps and settled by an upper fixing strip(34) for a deformable turbo machine nozzle. The flap is composed of a plurality of independent boxes(30) mounted horizontally in parallel on a support sheet(32). The support sheets are contacted to each other by an upward edge unit formed longitudinally. A side edge unit is fixed at the support sheet engaged with a longitudinal edge unit of the support sheet. The longitudinal edge unit has an individual support area for holding the adjacent control flaps.
