    • A system for sensing failure as measuring performance based on BFD(Bidirectional Forwarding Detecton)/OAM(Operation, Administration and Maintenance) in a Diffserv-over-MPLS(Multi Protocol Label Switching) network and a method thereof are provided to effectively sense failure as measuring performance in a DIffserv-over-MPLS transmission network, and to use a network processor as adopting independent BFD/OAM at the first and second layers, thereby quickly conducting packet processing and failure sensing functions. A BFD/OAM configuration utility(110) sets BFD/OAM according to setup of a control element, and provides a GUI(Graphic User Interface) with the control element. A BFD/OAM configuration driver(120) takes charge of a handler for notifying of failure. A BFD/OAM core component(130) manages a session of the BFD/OAM, and conducts failure sensing and performance measuring functions by processing received BFD/OAM packets or by generating the BFD/OAM packets. An MPLS core component(140) sets interactive LSPs(Label Switching Paths) for the BFD/OAM, sends the generated BFD/OAM packets to the LSPs, and filters BFD/OAM packets received from the LSPs to deliver the filtered packets to the core component(130), then manages each LSP.

    • PURPOSE: A method for transmitting an OAM(Operation, Administration and Maintenance) packet in a PON(Passive Optical Network) is provided to prevent blocking of even an OAM packet using a MAC client packet format in a PAUSE operation by correcting the PAUSE operation defined in IEEE802.3 Clause31 and Annex31B. CONSTITUTION: In transmitting a OAM packet in an EPON(Ethernet PON) including one OLT(Optical Line Terminal) and at least one ONU(Optical Network Unit) connected to the OLT, an MAC control layer recognizes an OAM frame so as not to block OAM data in a PAUSE operation, identifies the recognized OAM data and transmits it to a lower layer of the MAC. When PAUSE occurs at a point 'A', the OAM packet can be transmitted by the method 2 and, at a point 'B', the OAM packet can be transmitted by necessarily using both the method 1 and the method 2.

    • PURPOSE: A hand shake packet transmission control method having set-up function of the number of generating the maximum negative acknowledgement(NAK) is provided to designate the permissible maximum number of NAK hand shakes, and generate a stall or time out when counter exceeds the maximum number, thereby preventing the infinite re-transmission. CONSTITUTION: An NAK counting parameter(NAK_COUNT) is set up as the maximum permissible value of NAK(MAX_NAK)(S20). Thereafter, the existence of the NAK generation is discriminated(S30). When the NAK is generated, it is discriminated whether the counting parameter of NAK(NAK_COUNT) is 0(S40). If the counting parameter of NAK(NAK_COUNT) is 0, a stall is generated(S50). If the counting parameter of NAK(NAK_COUNT) is not 0, the counting parameter of NAK(NAK_COUNT) is reduced by 1, the above process is repeated until the counting parameter of NAK(NAK_COUNT) becomes 0(S60).
