    • PURPOSE: An information storage device using magnetic domain wall movement and a method of operating the same are provided to achieve a structure beneficial for high integration and facilitate control of a record/playback operation. CONSTITUTION: An information storage device comprises a magnetic track(100), a first unit(200A), a plurality of switching elements(T1,T2,T3,T4), and a second unit(200B). The magnetic track has a plurality of magnetic domains and magnetic domain walls arranged between the magnetic domains. The first unit is installed on the magnetic track and performs one or both of record and playback of information. The switching elements are connected to one or both ends of the magnetic track and to the first unit and share signal lines. The second unit is separate from the first unit. One of the first and second units is a record unit while the other is a playback unit.

    • PURPOSE: A hard disk duplication device and a hard disk used for duplication are provided to restore data recorded in a physically damaged hard disk by duplicating data of undamaged portion of the disk into another hard disk though a magnetic stray field. CONSTITUTION: A hard disk duplication device comprises a first hard disk part(112), a second hard disk part(113), a motion control part(114), and an auxiliary magnetic field generating unit(111). A first hard disk is inserted into the first hard disk part. A second hard disk is inserted into the second hard disk part. In case the first hard disk is inserted into the first hard disk part and the second hard disk is inserted into the second hard disk part, the first hard disk part is moved close to the second hard disk part by the motion control part. The auxiliary magnetic field generating unit generates a magnetic field on the first hard disk.

    • A device for erasing data of a magnetic recording medium is provided to perform a data erasing process conveniently by indicating a mark displaying the completion of data erase automatically. A data erasing device(1) for a magnetic recording medium has a marking system(20). The marking system, which forms an erase completion mark on a magnetic recording medium(2) whose data is eliminated, comprises a marking unit(21), a support(22), an elastic member, a cam(24), a driving unit(25), and a sensor(26). The marking unit forms the erase finish mark on the magnetic recording medium. The support is connected to the marking unit and moved vertically. The elastic member compresses the support to a side of the magnetic recording medium and provides elastic force to hit the magnetic recording medium by the marking unit. The cam moves the support vertically against the elastic force of the elastic member. The driving unit powers the cam. The sensor detects the data erase completion and sends a driving signal to the driving unit.
